Gene Steratore is useless and weak

He automatically agrees with whatever the call in the field is. His work during the Bills-Broncos divisional game was laughable.

Still a Member of the Union, drawing a pension, and every other Cadillac benefit known to mankind

I had a good laugh when he went radio silent on the first DPI on the last Broncos drive

The rules experts are my least favorite part of broadcasts.
The biggest reason is they don’t use them to explain the rules. They use them to evaluate a replay. And very often their subjective view is incorrect.
Steratore is bad. The college guy on the Herbstreet broadcast is just as bad.

Every TV “rules expert” is trash. All they do is agree with the call and then twist their logic to accommodate it. It’s especially bad in college football.
They don’t help their profession at all nor do they add to the broadcast.

His explanation at the end of the Fiesta Bowl was hot garbage. Literally telling people a lie.

For the most part I agree...although I can at least deal with Mike Pereria or Dean Blandino of FOX.

Not exactly the same thing, but the ACC allowing broadcasts to listen in to officials reviewing a replay was fantastic. Showed transparency and allowed fans to see how officials arrive at a certain call. Way better than these useless dorks coming in for 20 seconds to say “Yeah, Joe, refs nailed it again.”

The NFL must have forced the broadcasters to include him to diffuse outrage on controversial calls on their behalf. Its a disgrace to the game

They ask him to chime in on onvious flags.
"Let's hear from Gene Sterstore on that flag. Was it a face mask in your opinion?"
We don't need Gene to tell us if it was a face mask. It was 1000% obvious it was a face mask.

Mike Perina usually does a good job. He disagrees with the field call pretty often.

Here’s the guest referee playbook:
-if the call was obviously right, agree with the call
-if the call is controversial, give gibberish explanation why it could go either way
-if the call on the field is the same as what you said, pat yourself in the back
-if the call is the opposite what you said, agree with the call and give new evidence but in a way that make it seems hidden initially.

His job is to uphold the officials calls and explain why you didn’t see what you saw.

The NFL is an entertainment company, not a sports league.

He’s still in the union. What do you want him to say?
