Looking for Smoker Recommendations

I owned a small Masterbuilt electric smoker but it finally died last year. Looking to take the plunge on another smoker. Anyone have any insight/recommendations on particular brands/models?

I’m not good enough to make recommendations but the lighter 300-400 pound old country offsets are really difficult but I think the difficulty makes the food taste better. I’ve never used a $1000+ 600 plus pound offset but they’re supposedly a little easier.
The best cook I know uses an ugly barrel smoker and while it might not bring the boldest smoke flavor, that thing is set it and forget it for several hours at a time once mastered.
I’m not sure other designs, save the egg, really count as smoking.

If you want a pellet smoker the camp chef woodwind pro is amazing. Hard to clean, though.

Feedback on the Masterbilt electric?
Posted on 1/17/26 at 9:07 pm to Bayou
I loved it. Bought it before we had kids. Had it around 10 years before it died. We used it a ton. Not a ton of room but great all around if you are cooking for a smaler group. Very easy. We smoked a lot of brisket; ribs, pork loins, and Tasso through the years.
I am looking for something bigger and want to try to venture away from electric.

I have a gas Pit Boss 30". I am no expert, but I really like it and it's easy to use and clean

Thanks O!
I've been looking at that same electric Masterbilt.

quote:started with a 100 dollar chargriller barrel and offset from Home Depot. It served well for 15 years until it fell apart from rust. Got a high dollar very heavy model to replace it thinking I’d step up my smoking…and I hated it. I finally gave it away and got another chargriller and couldn’t be happier. It doesn’t hold heat like the heavy ones and thus uses more fuel but I know exactly how to manage it and every cook is predictable

OP Your mileage may vary but in my case cheaper is better

Weber Smokey Mountain
I’ve also been wanting to get a smoker. I’ve been doing a bit of “research” and watching some YouTube videos comparing different brands and types.
I actually just came to conclusion this weekend that I’ll probably buy a Weber Smokey Mountain soon. They sold me on user friendly for newcomers, ease and excellent temperature control, and true great smokey flavor.

What size are y'all looking at for the Weber Smokey Mountain?
Posted on 1/18/26 at 11:02 pm to O
Buy the 22 inch.
Looks like the atomic bomb standing on end but better to have the extra grill area than not enough.
Ordered a stainless pan off eBay to use as an ash pan. Works perfect and inexpensive.
Also bought a stainless rib rack off internet. Holds 8 or 9 racks. Did have to use a flapper wheel on side grinder to round the ends of the rack so that the lid would go on flush.
Didn’t take 10 minutes.

Biggest one possible. I think it’s the 22 inch double grill rack as mentioned above.
I was thinking about going to ACE this week to grab one, but I’ll probably wait a bit longer once things warm up.

After a ton of research and I finally pulled the trigger on a Weber Kamado. There are many good smokers out there buy I love this thing. I mainly use it for low and slow cooking, and it holds temp very well. Fuel lasts all day if you need it too. Easy to set up to cook and easy to clean.

I had a Masterbuilt as well. When it died I got a Pitt Boss electric with pellet hopper. Much wider, even easier to use. I think it was 400, they look to be @ 600 now. I do use a smoke box for more smoke.
