How many of these militant Islamic groups rely heavily on Iranian support?

ASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. has launched another round of retaliatory strikes against the Islamic State in Syria following last month’s ambush that killed two U.S. soldiers and one American civilian interpreter in the country.
The large-scale strikes, conducted by the U.S. alongside partner forces, occurred around 12:30 p.m. ET, according to U.S. Central Command. The strikes hit multiple Islamic State targets across Syria.
Saturday’s strikes are part of a broader operation that is part of President Donald Trump’s response to the deadly ISIS attack that killed Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres-Tovar, Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, and Ayad Mansoor Sakat, the civilian interpreter, in Palmyra last month.

Help depose the Alawite leader of Syria who hates ISIS and Al Qaeda. A former member of Al Qaeda replaces him. Then we bomb the country we spent years trying to regime change. We're complete suckers.

Dude, we’re not bombing “the country.” We’re striking ISIS targets in response to the killings of two U.S. National Guard soldiers recently. Now if you out of hand simply refuse to believe that and assign some other conspiratorial meaning or motive to it, then that’s your prerogative. But get the scenario straight for starters.
All due respect, of course.

So we're bombing allies of the guy we replaced Assad with? Syria is a better place if Assad was still in charge. But between leftists seeing Russia everywhere and evangelical neocons who hate Syria because of Israel, we're blinded. Strongmen in Islamic countries are more our allies than democracy.

I see it as regardless of any “alliance” that you make reference to with any particular current leader of a particular country, this is aside from any such thing and “simply” a response (i.e. consequence) for the killing of American soldiers. I’m pretty certain, at least in my mind, that such a response is not only warranted and justified, but necessary.

Trump is having to deal with what he was handed by the Biden admin. At this point we need to test what the new guy will let us do there, and stay out of the way. I'm sure this was discussed in their meeting.
I agree on Assad being the better option, but unfortunately thats not the card this admin was handed.

Pretty much all of them. Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world. Russia comes in close second.

This is much older than Biden.
