Who's next? Trump hints at military intervention beyond Venezuela

WASHINGTON — If the first year of President Donald Trump’s second term was focused on brokering peace deals around the globe, his sophomore year is gearing up to be one that emphasizes American military power.
That begins with challenging nations in America’s backyard, from adversaries such as Venezuela and Cuba to partners like Colombia and Mexico that Trump wants to more forcefully address narcotics trafficking and illegal migration to the United States. It's becoming a political sore spot for Trump, whose foreign forays are beginning to frustrate some lawmakers in his own party.
After arresting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, in a deadly raid on their compound in Caracas, Trump and top U.S. officials warned that other countries in the Western Hemisphere and beyond could be the next targets of U.S. intervention.

Trump has attempted peaceful diplomacy and it hasn’t yielded results. The reality whether we like it or not it requires us to show force to get results.
Diplomacy works with civilized nations. When dealing with the uncivilized third world they only respond to force. This is because they have nothing to lose outside of their life.

I won't vote GOP next election cycle.

The carrot and the stick. Diplomacy works only when the other side thinks you are serious.
Peace through strength is real.
Biden exuded weakness.

I agree with what you say about Biden You can't be the leader of America and be a wimp. Jimmy Carter and Joe Biden are the perfect examples.

Just curious. Are you by any chance one of the few here who will admit to having voted for Kamala and Tampon Timmy?

1.5 trillion dollar proposed military budget isn’t going to spend itself.

You are the ones pushing for communism.
If republicans actually represented limited government, I'd love to keep voting for them. But just like in 2000 they have once again proven themselves to be nothing more but the other side of the same coin, a bunch of neocon Marxists pushing us further and further into socialism.
Maybe if people looked at actions rather than rhetoric they wouldn't be fooled so easily.

I don’t see our conquest of the Anglosphere on there. I am disappointed.

Weakness often leads to inevitable conflict. Poking the bear that has thousands of nukes leftover from the Cold War wasn’t a good idea.

Ahh, yet it’s a good idea to poke further by taking the bears oil tankers because it’s Trump making that decision. Right?

I don't know what to think about Trump anymore to be honest. Voted for him twice. Then he lied about the Epstein stuff and it turned me off.
But just when I'm about to disavow him, he always ends up doing something awesome.
I dunno. Like a roller coaster.

Different hemisphere, different issue. And besides, all of Europe isn’t caught in the middle of this. Trump wouldn’t need to do all of this (he never even would’ve run for president) if the last 5 or 6 presidents wouldn’t have let things fester so long.
