And that’s how you entice a QB you really covet back into the market.

This new version of LSU is kinda gangster I admit.

In reality, you do it by contacting their agent

It’s ok, I’ll help. The strategy being that other QBs not being in the portal already will get in now that they know what LSU is willing to pay

You do realize agents talk with each other right?

You do realize you can contact a player's agent even if they are not in the portal, right?

Why would you employ a shotgun approach when you have a more precise strategy available to you? Why is it a good strategy to share with your competition what you are willing to pay for a top-level QB.

Not sure how you think you're helping by saying things that seem like a pretty silly strategy.

It is not a bad concept. Makes sense.

And given the scrutiny LSU is under, broadcasting that you are willing to pay top dollar with specific amounts eliminates completely any and all risk of tampering allegations. And, it is not specific to one person ... who knows who else this could have brought out from the shadows.

While the risk of contacting an agent directly has minimal risk, but it is not without risk; particularly in this charged environment and with LK as the boogeyman. An angry university could easily claim tortious interference and argue that by contacting the agent, you were directly/indirectly contacting a player who was under a known contract that was inked just days prior.

Would that argument fail in court? Likely yes. But would you have to spend time and money fighting it, yes.

Broadcasting the amount you are willing to pay to open public is a great way to avoid this risk entirely.

Agent allegedly was blind sided by Williams entering the portal. He’s also the agent for the Washington coach.

He said the opposite actually, that it probably came from Sorsby's camp

I think they leaked to show that Sorsby was using LSU to get his number with TT up. Its as simple as that.

Its all a money grab right now

No.

While I only really listen to MM for essentially a summary of what happened day prior, I take his opinions with a grain of salt.
However, his take on this leak was actually pretty interesting and I didn't look at this way.

His guess/opinion is that Sorsby's agent maybe leaked it maybe to up his numbers.
He went on to say while it shouldn't have been leaked and disagrees with it, it actually could make LSU look good. Most schools are throwing rev share offers to sign players immediately since they control the money and then essentially promising the rest of the offer in a NIL deal. What this leak shows is that LSU right out the gate can have a NIL offer in the players hands along with the schools rev share offer.

Yea Scone said this kinda leak is generally a bad look and we wouldn't want it to get out.. but it might play in our favor in the end.

OP likely heard the pod and made the logical jump that we leaked on purpose.

It was leaked after Sorsby had already signed with Tech, no?
