Rumor of rumors: countdown on Amazon's Fallout TV show page possible remaster release?

Watch Fallout Site (upper right corner)
IGN
Could be nothing, but here it is.
I'm a bigger FO3 fan, personally. I'm playing through it currently on Steam, just trying to discover every waypoint and discover stuff I've never seen in the game. Although I'd love to see a modernized version of this game, I would honestly take a NV remaster instead considering I never finished it, and I feel it would make more sense with the TV show centering around New Vegas.
We'll see.

There is a mysterious countdown timer on Amazon’s official website for its Fallout TV series that is set to unlock when the Season 2 finale comes out — but fans think it might also signal the shadowdrop of a Fallout 3 or New Vegas remaster.
The countdown is live now on a website designed to look like a Fallout map. On it are locations in the Fallout map style which, when accessed, lead you to behind-the-scenes information on the show. For example, The Vault 33 outer door, from which Lucy first steps foot into the wasteland, is on the south of the map. The Caswennan, the airship that serves as a soaring fortress for the Brotherhood of Steel, is to the east. And up there in the top right is the locked point of interest alongside the timer, which points to February 4.

That’s the day the Season 2 finale airs. So, it could just be pointing to a behind-the-scenes hub for the final episode. Perhaps it will reveal a teaser for Season 3, which is already confirmed. Or, as some Fallout fans hope, it will point to a Fallout video game remaster release.
Could Bethesda follow The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and release a remaster of Fallout 3 or New Vegas? In a recent interview with IGN, Howard remained coy on the possibility.
We asked Howard if the success of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, which has seen over 4 million players since it shadowdropped last year, was a repeatable trick for a Fallout 3 Remastered. Howard kept his cards close to his chest, and reiterated a point he’s been making a lot in interviews lately.
quote:
“I will just say that the Oblivion Remaster, we're really, really pleased with how well it did, it was a very long project too, and not just in how it was received, the ability to shadowdrop it, and the response to doing that,” he said. “I like to do that with games as much as possible. I love the moment that you find out about a game.”

The week that Fallout 3 finally clicked and I was up until 2am every night and dead at work is one of my top gaming memories. Fallout 3 will always have a special place for me.
I've just never been able to crack through on NV, and I honestly feel the shooting mechanics got worse between the two games.
I get why people prefer NV, but I prefer exploring the Capital Wasteland over the Mojave.

Fallout 3 was my first Fallout game so it is my favorite. I have an irrational hatred of New Vegas, even though I know it's an objectively great game, because when playing it a bug caused a save file to corrupt and I lost something like 10 hours of playtime. I turned it off and have never touched it since. I was extremely salty.

Don't give me that hope, Sic. Don't give me that hope.
I don't know if my family would see me for a month if they shadow dropped it like oblivion

I had the exact same experience. FO3 was my first fallout game and the first rpg I ever played and it blew me away. Still my all time favorite game ever. I played NV and was really enjoying it until I reached a point where every time I loaded my game it would crash after playing it for 10 mins. Every fricking time. So I never even got close to finishing it and was too pissed about it to start over

Todd was a big fan of how the Oblivion Remaster went down, he has a twinkle in his eye when discussing that kind of release, so go ahead and get your apologies in and start buying flowers. I feel like another one isn't far off.

It better have the green tint to it
People still complain about that but to me that was part of the soul of the game

I'm not trying to disparage NV in any way. I want to play it eventually but I run into the same issues. I don't know if this will fix your problems, but one thing I always default to when playing it is selecting "New Game" from the menu, waiting for the opening cut scene to start, then going to the menu and loading my save, and it will run just fine.........until it doesn't.
Obviously, FO3 isn't without it's issues as well. I did an edit to the ini file a while back and it generally works fine. However, I've been running into the same sound bug in my recent playthough. I have Fawkes as my companion, he uses the laser gatling gun. Every once in a while after a battle encounter, even if he's put the gun away, the sound file for the gatling will keep going and won't stop until we get into another fight. Slightly annoying but it eventually goes away

I've watched the Noclip documentary on Bethesda many times, and I love the part where they discuss the internal joke of "you can't use the color green unless it's in the hub"

10 hours?

I had an older save that still worked. I had probably 50-60 hours total playtime as it was after getting to New Vegas and during the cannibal chef encounter. I didn't make a bunch of backup saves in those days so when the save I was playing on corrupted my only other one was 10ish hours back. I probably should go back and play it again, because I liked it up to that point, I was just too salty at the time.

It really is interesting New Vegas gets so much love now but when it came out in the mess it dropped, it was universally hated. I refused to play NV because I was pissed at the ending of Fallout 3. One of these days I will get to it. It might take a remaster.

It was hated because it was a catastrophically buggy mess. We now have a decade and a half of official patches, unofficial patches, and mods. It's been fricking glorious for quite some time now.

There's going to be an Xbox Developer Direct this month, so that could line up with this.

If we get a current Gen upgrade I’ll be happy
If we get a FO5 announcement I’ll flip my 40yo gaming shite with excitement
I played FO 1 & 2 when they were recent releases and this is my favorite game franchise of all time by quite a bit.

FO5 is at least 5 years away. The priority now is ES6 but FO5 is in the early stages of development.

New Vegas borrowed heavily from a scrapped van buren/fallout 3 interplay sequel story.
Multiple factions that you could align with. Depending on how you played and what factions you supported/fought, the narrative would shift dramatically.
The themes, the quests, and the open ended nature of it more than made up for the horribly buggy state of the game, IMO.
Bethesda’s fallout 3 is just “find my daddy” simulator with some cool environments to roam around in. I appreciate Bethesda for resurrecting the franchise but 3, 4, and 76 aren’t as good to me as New Vegas was.

My only issue with New Vegas is when it first came out there was this weird "hipster" kind of mentality where if you didn't proclaim New Vegas superior in every way to FO3, you were "not a real fan."
Those same people hated it when I pointed out that New Vegas used the same engine and most of the same art assets as FO3, meaning they could focus on tweaks and story a lot more than the FO3 creators could.
It's the same as, instead of saying, "I like the Disturbed version of Sound of Silence better than the original," you get people demanding that "Disturbed's version is better in every way, and the fact that you don't even GET Disturbed's version without the original is completely irrelevant."
Without FO3, you don't get New Vegas or FO4; you don't get the resurgence in popularity; hell, you don't get the show either.
