What is your set up? Did you have it professionally installed, and how much did it cost all in? I’m thinking of putting one in over my garage. are you happy with it and would you have done anything different?

Go check out the Foresight Sim in a Box. It comes with everything and it’s a great setup. We have one setup for folks at work. And it’s great. Awesome device and has everything!!

I did the GC3 bundle from PlayBetter. There was a coupon code for over $1000 off as well. Bought a gaming PC from Best Buy. The Play Better setup has everything but the PC. It took my about 2 hours to set it up. Love it.

I bought the unlocked version that came with a free year to GSPro. That's what I use for all of the courses. I think it's $250 a year and you can find almost any course on there.

Are you wanting something for actual simulation play or just something for practice?

How much space do you have? Camera-based systems are usually better in smaller, indoor spaces. I think with doppler radar you need a certain distance between the unit and ball and another distance from ball to net.

I don’t even know yet, just in brainstorming phase. As of right now, I have plenty of room, but I may have to share the space with my wife. I definitely want to be able to practice and review my swing.

I did mine all DIY and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Here's the breakdown in costs. Check out Builds by Maz on Youtube. He has a very detailed how to video. For the most part I followed his build but bought a different launch monitor.

Enclosure - $1,500
Launch Monitor - Protee VX $6500 (best value in the market imo on overhead LMs)
Projector - ViewSonic PS502W $550. Went cheaper on this and it's fine. Not HD but this is an easy upgrade in the future. Just got tired of spending money.
Computer - $1,000 built my own with the help of my brother in law. Used the GeForce RTX 3070
Hitting Strip - TrueBirdie Beaver Tail - $150. Don't cheap out on the hitting strip. Your wrists and elbows will thank you.

All in I was around $10,000 and it's a lot of fun. Bought the GSPro subscription for $250 per year and it's definitely worth it. ProTee has it's own range that is included.

I have the Bushnell Launch Pro (it uses the same hardware as the FS GC3) w/club data. I don’t use it to play courses but it has that ability. Practice, swing improvement, and distance control is what I use it for. Got a Net Return net and a cc elite mat. Because I don’t care to play courses, I can run the necessary driving range software on an iPad. All in around $5,000. I have it set up in my shop, nothing fancy.

If you want to play sim golf on it, you would just need a gaming pc and either an impact screen and projector… or a cheap flatscreen tv.

You’ll have to define plenty of space and a rough idea on budget to get realistic recommendations. You can range from $250-$40k pretty easily depending on how wild you want to get. Ideally you have 10’ ceilings and at least a 14’ wide x 20’ long area if you’re looking to have others in the room for a social sized sim. You can get by with less, just depends on what the goals.

Many people can get away with 8.5-9', but all it takes is that one friend coming over with a steep backswing or high follow through and there's a new divot in your ceiling. Lower ceilings can also subconsciously alter a swing. So the general recommendation is at least 10', but less can be fine.

Counter point to your 6'2" is I'm limited to ~9 iron in an 8' ceiling at 5'6".

If he wants to consider an overhead launch monitor, they typically need 9.5' or more.

Got Trackman back in 2016 - best decision ever made - now it’s so much more simple and the Trackman service is by far the best in the business and the technology is unmatched… if that’s not your budget - so many options these days depends on how much you want to improve balanced with budget

GC3 unlocked. LG projector with 4K capability. SIG10 enclosure. Fiberbuilt Players Preferred hitting mat. PC specially ordered with a GPU that pushes 4K graphics. Room has 11’ ceilings.

All in about $15k

Researched, ordered and set it all up myself
