I really don’t know, are Wolford and Cregg up to the task of identifying OL talent?

Serious question, does anyone know their record when it comes to scouting? Any finds of note between them? I ask because their job nowadays seems overwhelming.

Cregg coached LSU’s OL in 2019.
Wolford has put multiple OL in the NFL…at Kentucky.

I think what he means by this is Cregg didn't identify any talent at LSU. In fact, that 2019 line was on their last year when he came in to coach them. Past that, he was a pretty awful talent evaluator on OL which is why they canned him and then he sued LSU lol. It matters very little as Lane and Wolford are the main ones here. Cregg is just an assistant.

Dude was a great OL coach at LSU…fired for recruiting violation that today is par for the course. Coached only Moore trophy team at LSU. Facts over feelings.

2019 was his first full year as OL coach. He was not LSU's OL coach before that season, he was in an assistant role which he has been in most of his career. His lines were extremely bad after 2019 and he got fired at Raiders as well. He seems more fit for an assistant role like he has been in.

Grimes was LSU's coach beforehand. He left for the BYU OC job due to it being a big promotion for him.

I just wonder who these two can hang their hat on as finds. Schools like Pitt, Wisconsin, even lowly Toledo have some real dudes they point to as evidence of good scouting. Identifying talent is massive nowadays because so few stick it out for five years at one place

He was a God-awful recruiter. He let the talent level and numbers slide into a pit during his tenure. I do think he’s a good technical coach, but he was a terrible fit for the pre-NIL SEC.
All that said, he’s not the OL Coach and recruiting is backed up with legal $$$$ now. If Cregg can just help coach guys up, then he’s earning his pay.
