Someone help me out with the psychology of this. OM people i get because their best coach since it was whites only left for a school they hate.

He asks to coach the playoffs, which Ole Miss said no to, I get that as well from their pov. But then the media acts like Kiffin left the team early when really he was forced out? And now people act like he committed some sort of crime because he took a better job effective next year? The hyperbole over this has gone way way way over the top. Is he supposed to just stay at Ole Miss forever?

Is it because most people are fans of smaller schools and don’t want to see another small school have their coach hired away? And a lot of the other big school fans I guess have had their feelings hurt by LSU over the years and are still salty themselves?

Texas fans seem to be the only ones not being emotional about this.

It’s not just an SEC issue people are fixated on this coast to coast. It’s bizzare.

The problem is the calendar of events for college football.

It's a patchwork quilt that is majorly exacerbating the issues.

yes but that doesn’t explain the psychology of these people who have been bleeding all over the internet for a month because someone they don’t know took a better job

Because he walked out on a CFP team. It's not hard to understand.

Reality is that these are colleges and universities, and the players have to enroll and take classes. Sure, some don’t have intentions of graduating, but most do. With the season ending mid to late january, makes it impossible to serve the academic side

lol. Nobody is letting that go down in the big ten of sec. Nobody. You leave, you leave. Assistants a totally different story as the HC is in place

that’s fine but don’t say he left early because he didn’t

saying he should have passed on the LSU job is totally unreasonable, especially in 2025 when it’s not like the players are stuck there.

move singing day back to february and have the playoff start immediately after the conference title games (or play ins), you can wrap up by the first few days of january. portal opens the next day.

The portal should be late spring towards the end of the school year. Nobody is forcing these guys to hop in and out. The ones who have intentions of graduating are less likely to be annual portal jumpers.

The idea that Lane left a bunch of bright eyed student athletes happy for a shot at the playoff is laughable. They’re all mercenaries and it’s some Pollyanna bullshite to think otherwise.

You said you understood why Ole Miss did what they did. Most rational people don't blame anyone in this situation, but can disagree with leaving a CFP semi final team for another job no matter the circumstances.

It's kinda like the nuance between homicide, murder, manslaughter, and self defense.

They all have the same result, the death of a person at the hands of another. But they are rationally treated differently.

In this case, you've been around long enough that people on the Internet just live to hate on the "other team" whenever possible to potentially get them riled up.

Even if it isn’t annual and a 1 time transfer, teams and players want transfers in for spring ball. The overlap in the end of the season with the start of the new semester is a major hurdle

It’s because he had a reputation for being a self centered a-hole, pretended to have changed his way and then showed his true colors again permanently cementing his reputation.

This isn’t hard to understand

Only after we made it

He always wanted out because he figured we could never get this far.

He gets to play the victim now, oh believe me I wanted to be with you guys ( forget me sending my famky to BR and Gainesville) I am TOTALLY committed to you guys believe me . Here’s an inspirational quote

He can frick off. It’s what the team told him. He only wanted to stay once we got to where he never thought we could

Frick him. It’s simple really.

People just want something to complain about. A bandwagon to jump on, to fill apart of the crowd. Are not the type to led but blend in and follow.
