Great trip with my boys despite the loss. Easy drive over from Atl. Enjoyed Mobile bridges and water. Cook Hotel-very nice. I'm not a world traveler but courteous, clean, nice little gift shop, and some memorabilia for the boys to enjoy. Great breakfast. Think I paid $125 a night. Campus was ghost town understandably. Managed to find way into Tiger Stadium-stunning. Huge in words of DJT. Cool seeing the original dorms. Mike was prowling one day and sleeping the next. Super cool. Very unique. Underwhelmed by Maravich. Floor was in bad shape. But kinda like Stegman. Lipstick on a pig. Alex Box- impressive. Manicured. Could not get into football facility bc coaching changes. Beautiful oaks were my favorite part of campus. Drove by Southern- not impressed as some HBCU's I've seen. Took boys to Maruccis. We didn't tour bc you got to book a tour and I didn't. They were drudging the lakes. Went to capitol but elevator was down due to renovations which looked badly needed. Downtown was ghost. No homeless ppl like Atl. New Orleans had plenty. Went to Parraines and The Chimes. Great food and atmosphere. Crawfish etoufee one night and bbq shrimp and boudin balls. Easy drive to game. Buzzed thru Tulane. Didn't care for way everything was crammed together. One non-typical part of trip. Kuddos to Ray's barbershop. Old school. Great cut by Mr. Guitreaux. Enjoyed my upper deck seats. Good food but crazy expensive. Was expecting hookers and blow on Bourbon St but it was tame (of course we went during day). Clean building-Superdome. The drive over was pretty seeing all the water. Def coming to UGA @ LSU in 29. Hope it's a night game. Quick getting out of NO. Never once got the "danger" vibe in city. Got back to Cook and read Tiger Rag about Red October. Very interested to see how much Liffin is embraced off the bat by everyone. As UGA LSU is not really a rival I am so glad we stayed on campus. Have always admired them from afar. Was underwhelmed by Tiger Town- maybe I didn't see-but it looked like 3 bars in a shady part of town. I'm used to Athens where everything in DT is close. Boys enjoyed campus bookstore and Bengals and Bandits. Wonder if LSU is a place where you gotta be Greek to fit in. UGA was not. I wasn't Greek but had buddies whonweee. No hate. Overall amazing place. Someone plz recommend a good history of state book for me. I'm a history teacher but didn't think about that. When i come I want tonTailgate with y'all good folks! Go Tigers and Dawgs! Also went to Cafe Dumond got the traditional. Black coffee was like tar- can't get too strong for me!

there’s a strong greek community but it’s not required at all like it basically is as places like Ole Miss and others

Glad you enjoyed your trip to LA! I was pulling for ya’ll against Ole Miss.

Statistically it’s a very dangerous city, that’s just a fact. But for big events/games Nola does it just as good as anywhere.
OP, looks like you took some good advice. Don’t know if I could’ve planned a better trip for this time of year.

Glad yall had a good time, except for the games outcome. Wish yall could have pulled it out so we could get out full staff.

You got the bottom of an old pot of coffee.

Preciate it. I was certainly pulling for yall. As you stated we aren’t really a rivalry and I’ve spent a lot of time in Georgia and gotten to know alot of people there. Tybee and Savannah are a once every 2 years trip for my family. Come to a game here and you can walk up to just about any tailgate and they’ll treat you incredibly well as long as you don’t act like an arse. Judging by your online persona I don’t think you’ll have any problems.

Glad you enjoyed yourself. And make no mistake, New Orleans is very dangerous. Media invented, someone wrote? Naive. Very naive.
We need more fans like you in the SEC. The bitterness and outright angry behavior at games between otherwise normal fans is ridiculous.
Take care. Good luck in 2026.

Yes, Lod Cook is not the Ritz but they indeed have a great breakfast. If I need a stay-cation I’ll stay there mainly for that.

run those stats without Nola East, which no visitor would ever go anywhere near

Glad y’all had a good trip. When y’all come to a game check back on this board and y’all can join my tailgate.

Glad you enjoyed LSU campus.
Check back when you return for a game and you will be invited by many tailgate parties.
If I'm in town and not in Abu Dhabi, you are welcome to mine. At least I will not be cooking your mascot. We love dogs here
I have been going through some medical treatments in 2025, so I have been in Louisiana most of the year and got to see 5 LSU games. That does not usually happen as I only make about 1-2 games per year max, if I come home in September, but I watch the rest live mostly in Abu Dhabi, one game in Bali in October, sometimes one game in Jakarta after annual Bali trip and Thailand in late Nov/Dec if we are in the SEC championship game.
This year we cooked an alligator for the Florida game, a pig for the Arkansas game, chicken & sausage gumbo and BBQ chicken for the South Carolina game.

The FQ and CBD are not nearly as dangerous as folks make it out to be.
It's like anywhere - you have your bad areas like south Chicago, north Baton Rouge etc

You saw it all. What a great trip for you and family.

My bad, I didn’t know you were excluding part of the city. But I also know people that have booked Airbnb’s in Nola East while visiting.

Sounds like you guys had a good time. I like seeing college campuses myself, even the smaller D1 schools. I’ve seen a lot of big ones, but I have never seen OU or Mizzou in the SEC.
