So the long shot dream of getting Chambliss is now dead?

Even if he were to get a wavier, after last night's game, Chambliss will at minimum be leading a CFB semifinalist team. OM will certainly match any dollar offer any teams make to keep him, so what incentive will he have to leave for his final year? OM has already proven it can get into the playoff and win a couple games...a lot more than we have proven. I dont think one more year playing with the Kiffen/Weis brain trust will enough of a draw to entice him. Plus the qb dominoes start falling as of today, could we really afford to wait another week or two for him to decide? I dont think so.

To me, if his waiver gets approved he accepts the $4M offer to join LSU or declares for NFL draft. His stock is at an all-time high. I don't see him returning to Ole Miss for 2026 season.

With the assistance of LSUs offensive staff, including the play caller.

Yea I gotta think it's LSU or NFL for him. He's not gonna want to go into his draft year with a new OC

So you are surprised that the “long shot” hasn’t materialized? It’s three hours into a two week process. Relax.

Yea cause we’ve never been in a playoff and won a couple of games.

FIFY. The institution known as Ole Miss had squat all to do with the football team being in the semi-finals.

But OM (meaning the staff) will be at LSU next season. I don't think last night's game did anything for OM when it comes to Chambliss.

This is all probably moot anyway because I think the two likely situations are his waiver getting denied, or his waiver getting approved and him going to the NFL. Why would he come back if he has another good showing on a big stage, win or lose? His stock will probably never be any higher.

Simmons is probably more of their concern since he's the future

I can't believe this board has talked down on this guy. He's a really good QB. I want him badly. He's more than good enough to win a NC here.

This is where I think the battle will be with Ole Miss (assuming Lane doesn't look elsewhere for a QB). Chambliss showed he can play against the best talent and scheme, while still putting up great numbers. The UGa defense is no joke. They are filled with NFL talent and they run an NFL-style defense. Chambliss proved himself last night, so I suspect he might be thinking much more about the NFL than switching to LSU. I think his backup (Simmons) is the main battle. He was the starter to begin the year before he got hurt, so Lane must already think highly of him. Plus, he'd have more than just one year of eligibility (and might cost a little less, which will give leave more for money for other positions of need).

Chambliss did bring up his coach leaving….i don’t think he will be at LSU even with a waiver.

Just look up their roster and educate yourself.

If Lee leaves for the Draft, all of their top WRs but Watkins will be gone and both of their top TEs. They are also losing 2 OL and both backup RBs. Lacy is the only impact player slated to return and he could leave in the portal. So they have a shitload to replace and they don’t have a ton of stockpiled talent or impact incoming freshmen to replace all of this with. They will also have some defensive needs, as well.

Why would Chambliss return there with the prospect of his stats declining with a new OC. rebuilt roster and a much harder schedule? Even if he gets the waiver, he would likely leave for the draft and the guarantee of going out on a high note.

Many people on here were talking down on him like he wasn't among the best options in the portal had he went. Which was just dumb.

There have been some doing that, but his waiver situation not being cleared up has been more of a concern for most looking at other QBs. Now having to also wait longer just adds another impediment.

Would love to have him at LSU but he should go pro if the options are ole miss or LSU. Both teams have a ton of question marks for next season.
