The Bye week myth

I don’t buy into that narrative.
1- Boise State G5 with no business getting a Bye
2- Arizona state had no business deserving a bye. Completely inferior to Texas.
3.Georgia last year lost Beck to injury the week before and started a brand new QB to begin playoffs.
4. Oregon faced best team in country on a mission
5. OSU is the only team that “should have won” but didn’t on paper.

What? The refs had to bail UT out for them to win that game and it went into OT, so how was ASU “completely inferior” to them?

All four of the teams who had byes last year were underdogs at kickoff of the quarterfinal games. This year will be more telling, IMO, since three of the four with byes were/are favored.
If TT, Indiana, and Georgia look like shite today like Ohio State did last night then it means there's probably something to the bye week being a problem.

Proving my point. 10-12 point undergdogs to Texas rested and ready to battle.
Texas was in a dogfight the week before and bruised up from the SEC title game.
The better team won but the rest and time off helped ASU who didn’t deserve a bye as they bareky made the playoffs

Yes. Ohio State last night is the first "evidence" of this.
All those teams that won last year were favored. Except Notre Dame. But even Notre Dame was favored at times leading up to the game (it was a small spread and swung back and forth)
People need to wait for more data to start jumping to conclusions.

Clearly you didn't even watch this game.
However, I agree that the people crying about byes are laughable.

Real football knowers knew Miami was the favorite because of superiority in the trenches

Watched every second. Are you saying without a Byw week that ASU would have won?

In the old days in HS FB in LA(when only two teams in a district) you'd be amazed at how many times team rewarded with a bye LOST the next week. It started in 1973 and through 1980 I think it was like 70% of teams with byes lost in the 2nd round. I believe about 30% of the bye teams played other teams with byes in 2nd round which is not in that 70%. I had 3 uncles that were very successful coaches back then and the bye curse was real
My team was 1-1 after first round byes.

I didn’t see Vegas anyone predicting Miami

If part of your premise was ASU was completely overmatched, it does not. If you had said Texas was a better team, you would have been correct.

Texas was better than ASU but because ASU had a bye they had a chance. If Texas got the bye they would have won by 20

So you’re conceding.

Nothing to concede.
You said UT was superior to ASU, I gave my opinion on why I think you’re wrong, and then you agreed with me.
It would appear as if it was you who already conceded…

That is a reasonable statement, even if someone might disagree about the final outcome of that game.

Well, then you know ASU dominated most of the game, so your claim that they were "completely inferior" to Texas is false.

Huh? I already said the bye doesn't matter.

ASU was rested facing a banged up Texas. Without the bye they lose by 20. Proving my point that the bye week losses are a myth.

You could just as easily say that Miami and their pass rush wasn't a great matchup for Ohio St.
Ohio St has a great defense but their offense struggled the same in all three games they played against good defenses.
The Pick 6 was the biggest play of the game and that's more the type "extra game prep" play you see defenses make when they have extra time than vice versa.

That game was played only in your imagination.
