Chris Olave will be out this week, per source. A blood clot was detected in his lung. Got caught early before anything bad could happen and will be fine. But not playing this week.

I hope he recovers quickly. That is terrifying.

The Saints running out a skeleton crew against Atlanta. If Shough pulls out a W that would be pretty impressive

If Shough wins this game without Olave, give him the damn MVP

oh man, well at least it was detected early.

Blood clots are no joke. Didn't that end Chris Bosh's career?

Just my 2 cents, but for the record, pulmonary embolisms (which this is) are not normal, even in the general population. It means he had a clot develop in his leg (DVT) that dislodged and went to his lung.

Why would he develop a clot in his leg? Trauma perhaps? Definitely needs to be worked up and hopefully he’s okay going forward but he’ll be on blood thinners for 6 months or so - hard to play contact sports like that.

He could have a genetic factor for them. See it pretty often at the hospital I work at in younger folks. They usually don’t know they have it until they get a PE.

I legit feel bad for Olave. His body has gone through some shite for a guy being that young.

Yeah this is not good. Hopefully they can diagnose the cause and whatever caused it was a fluke thing, but this sounds similar to Chris Bosh who had underlying conditions that just made him susceptible to blood clotting and he basically never came back.

Maybe it’s not as bad for Olave since NFL players don’t have to fly nearly as much as NBA players.

He’ll be ready for mini camp 3 months on injections. He is lucky they found it.

Good work by the medical team to diagnose it and start him on treatment. Blood tests will indicate if it’s an ongoing condition or a one time even due to injury

I had one and I’ve been on blood thinners for 2 years now. There are also issues when I fly. This could be a big deal

He should cautiously play in 26 and then retire. Too risky with his concussion history and now this.
