They should’ve parodied the song with “Internet killed the video star” music video.

They should’ve shown an episode of Room Raiders

In 2025, PEOPLE spoke with former MTV DJ and television personality Daisy Fuentes about the era of change at MTV.
"I thought, while it's a bit sad, it's been a bit sad for a while. I think MTV had its time and history that time will never repeat, and it's time to change," Fuentes shares.
"We all change. We have to evolve. And I hope that there's another version of them, just like there's another version of us, us who were part of that we're no longer the same. Why should we expect them to be? The world has changed so much."
As for the future, she continues, "I'm curious to see its evolution. It could be great. I think change is good. I think it's time. It will always be part of our youth."
14 yo Dawg would have expected something so profound from the "MTV hot chick".

When I was a club DJ in Houston somebody tried to start up a rival MTV-like channel ended up auditioning, got called back for a second and didn't go but it never did get off the ground

She was even hotter in person. One of the prettiest women I’ve ever seen.

That crappy MTV still survives, but some its music only channels and international channels are the ones that going away or becoming internet only channels.
TV is a shell of its former self. Ad rates declining, audience shrinking, cable TV shifting to online subscriptions, watching movies or content nonlinearly when and where you want to watch it, shift in new content, people would rather watch a 30 second short than a 5-30 minute broadcast on TV, while you have some that will watch and geek out on an hour long YouTube video on some random topic or issue, new content creators from Facebook, TikTok, or YouTube creating content that people watch instead of linear television, etc.

Weird.
Why didn't they just reuse the channels to play more reruns of Ridiculousness.
You can never get enough of Ridiculousness.
