Is Downs the kind of player that you can draft and get on the field in year 1 with Sanker and Reid?

Or are you drafting him to replace Reid at some point?

at 8 only he and Love are players I wouldn't feel like I was reaching on based on how most of these simulators are breaking down currently ( I know)

downs will go before we pick, but he is a top 5 player in this draft and will start for someone week 1.

he's my no brainer no risk draft pick but with Sanker playing so well, not sure we would even go that direction if he was available due to other pressing needs. OL, WR, DL, RB

Build the trenches. I think we’re playing well enough at S and CB that we don’t have to go that direction

You take if there.
He will play the rest you figure out.

Exactly. You take the DL BPA. If there's a run on DL, then you take the next BPA. If that is a S or RB, then so be it. But you do not pass up a top DL if he is in the same rating category as Downs, Love or someone else.

As far as the OP's "simulations" go, I have no idea what he is talking about . If we are at 8, there is a very high probability one of the top DL will be there.

Yeah from what I’m seeing we can either get Bain or Faulk pretty easily since 3 QBs are mocked ahead of us

If not take my guy Mauigoa and fix the oline

He is arguably top 5 talent but position need will play into that.

(2) QBs will go ahead of him.
Possibly (2) OL
Possibly (2) DL
Possibly (2) WR

Atleast (1) each of the other positions + (2) QB's puts him at #6

Bain

He's going to drop to the mid-late 1st. Faulk is the one I most expect us to be looking at

First up is filling holes in FAs. Top WR, top DE and top CB all ridiculously expensive to purchase. If we can fill the other holes thru mostly FAs this draft is deep in those very expensive positions. Load up.
I won't mind spending bank on guards for next year. Some FA depth in the TE room can be had without too much financial pain. Same with Vet DTs and RBs.
So in that spirit
1. DE
2. DE
3. WR
4. WR
5. CB
6. CB
7. (Move up)
;)

Bain is an interesting player.

He kind of fits that narrative of a guy that teams may talk themselves out of drafting. Not saying that they are wrong or right but it happens all the time.

Depending on what stat you value, I don't know if he overwhelmed anyone this year.

But I remember will Anderson's last year at Alabama.

He didn't exactly light up his stat sheet that year if I remember correctly. There was one game in particular that I remember well. Alabama's defense was absolutely getting liten up by Tennessee's offense.

They were getting no pressure whatsoever on that quarterback and he was throwing that ball all over the field.

It’s too early to say who we should take yet.

And I’m on record that I want to build the OL and take the best OL in the first. BUT, Downs and Reese are guys you don’t pass up on. If they are there you run to the podium to get them.

I doubt Downs makes it to us though. We would have to draft at #8, have the Raiders, Jets, and Cardinals or Browns have to take a QB (Mendoza, Moore & Simpson), NYGs take Reese, Titans take a WR to pair with Ward, then hope Washington and Cardinals/Browns falls in love with Mauigoa, Love, Bain or Faulk.

I think safety is the one position we’re good at with Reid(14th rank), Blackmon(22nd before his injury), Sanker & Howden. We desperately need a CB#1 or Edge Rusher in the draft.

I would be perfectly fine with either of the following
Downs
Proctor
Bain
Mauigoa

I personally think downs is the best player in this draft, but I lean toward O-Line because this team will only be playoff worthy is Shough is on the field.
