Spam Calls Are OOC

My daughter got her first cell phone less than a month ago and today her phone is blowing up with spam calls. It’s been ongoing for both my wife and I. She isn’t using her phone number for anything online or official. Registered on do not call and supposed to have Verizon’s spam block on all the lines.
Today it’s been awful. And they just chain numbers so you block one and it’s never used again. What the hell can be done about this?

On my Iphone I can turn off all rings that are not in my contact list.
They have an option to leave a message.

It sucks. I get 5-6 a day and all my voicemails are scam advertisements. 50k loan,10k Tax credit, etc
I know that most on here act cool and say “I don’t answer of I don’t recognize the #”. But a lot of times, you get legit calls from numbers you don’t recognize(dr office, contractors). And it does take your attention to look at the phone especially if you’re busy doing something. Or sometimes you’re napping and get woke up by a scam likely call.

I’m gonna have to do that. I had the same number calling my personal cell and work cell today at the same time and left the exact same message about a $70,000 personal loan I am approved for…

The worst are the ones that go straight to voice mail and always leave a damned robo voice recording! I HATE having to clear that crap out! All those involved in spam calls should be flayed!

I get 35+ a day and most leave voicemails, not exaggerating.
My phone is basically useless for phone calls.

Whitelist.... anything not in contacts is ignored.

You should be able to block all numbers from a certain prefix (800, 866, 888, ect).

If you let them give their entire speel and then hang up on them, they stop calling.

I’ve heard it helps to throw it into airplane mode if you get one. That way it may appear that the number doesn’t work. Not sure if true but i get maybe 1 a week.

It's called "silence unknown callers" in iOS, and there is one setting for calls, and another for texts.

I got Robokiller in July. It was stopping about 10 calls a day.
Earlier this month the spammers finally gave up.

I changed my phone number about a year ago and it's out of control

The way I've defeated it:
1. A random phone number that hopefully not many people have had before. Don't go for the easy to remember numbers when you're choosing. Those are what everyone else goes for.
2. Do not, under any circumstances, set up your voicemail. I mean, don't even allow the default voicemail. You need the phone to ring until whoever is calling gives up.
3. When you get a call from an unknown number do not hit the ignore button. You can mute it, but don't decline the call.
4. Never, ever answer a number you don't know. I know some people have to, but if you don't have to......don't do it. Ignore every call from any number you don't know.
5. Once you've managed to do this for a phone and number combo for a while......guard it with your life and never let it go.
The goal is to make the number appear to the shite head spammers as if it is inactive. That's why you have no voicemail and don't answer unknown calls. I can count on one hand the number of spam calls I have gotten in the past four or five years. I'm dreading having to get a new phone soon because I have this one where I want it. The other phone on our account gets blown up daily, but she didn't follow my warnings.

This is the same thing as basically just not having a phone
Between work and life I have to answer some numbers that aren't in my contact list.

How does this work for all the places you don't regularly deal with (like customer support) that call you back? You just miss it?
Or you have to think ahead and turn the filter off when you think you have a call like that coming?

I know. I have another phone that I keep on during the week. It gets hit occasionally. I am non-negotiable on my personal phone. I tell people to send a carrier pigeon or one of those saint bernards with a barrel around its neck if they need me badly enough.
