A combined Griff/Dumars masterclass of idiocy.

Why throw Dumars in there? He had nothing to do with Murray/ Z and if you'd actually rather CJ > Poole/ Bey then idk what to tell you.
DJ could still be the best player on our roster.

I'd rather not be locked in for Poole for two more years after this. CJ is off Washington's books after this year. It was a bad trade.

The best bench money can buy.

Well thankfully we aren't either.

Why do people constantly think that LOSING the salary from CJ/ Zion without replacing it helps us? Its the dumbest opinion on here this season.

How can you have this opinion while also being dense enough to think that letting CJ/ Z walk and losing that salary helps us? We are destined to never win anything but you expect us to use the space from CJ to do what? Sign imaginary elite level players with pur $5mil cap space? Shits hilarious.

Luckily poole only has one year left on his contract. If he had 2 left after this yr that would be horrible.

The amount of idiots that don't understand having Poole gives us $30mil to use and NOT having Poole/ CJ gives us NOTHING to use is astonishing. Y'all really don't even know wtf you are saying.
Pelicans having Poole for $30mil and being able to take back $30mil is a good thing.
Pelicans having Z for $40mil and being able to take back $40mil is a good thing.
Whatever bullshite "could have" "should have" response to this doesn't matter. Having them now is better than not having them now. We do not gain anything not having those guys.

Says the guy who thinks Dejounte fricking Murray is the best player on our roster
And ftr, I was not under the impression that if we kept and let CJ walk after this year that we'd have $30m to spend.
We need to start clearing the books though for a rebuild, not trading around like for like salaries in hopes of a quick fix.

Clearing the books doesn't help you. You really don't understand what you are saying. We have $156mil in cap space. We can spend up to $189mil because of the contracts already on the roster. If you get rid of Pooles $30mil instead of having $189mil next year you now have $156mil accounted for and only $3mil to spend.
What helps more? $3mil on a FA or a player up to $30mil from somewhere else?
Having that extra space only helps if we have to pay Trey, Herb, Queen, Fears, etch. Guess what we don't have to do for the next 3+ years? The answer is pay Trey, Herb, Queen, Fears etccc. Whatever imaginary space you are talking about doesn't really exist and doesn't actually help us unless that person is already on the roster.
Letting Poole, CJ, Z walk doesn't help us it hurts us. The only way those things help us is if we take back players that we can re-sign.
For this example Bey is that player. The extra $ in a trade helped us potentially get another long term piece that we wouldn't have gotten in FA or with "space".

You typed all that when all you had to say was that you’re cool with the play-in being our perpetual ceiling

Who is the best player on our roster then? You do know he's our only 2 way player? He is the only player on our team who is top 3 on both offense and defense. You don't think the guy who at his best averaged 21pts/ 8reb/ 9ast/ 2stl in a season can be our best player?

Lol you’re off the rails

You keep big contracts during a rebuild so you can later convert them into picks, young players, or cap relief when it actually matters.
That’s how:
OKC rebuilt
Utah rebuilt
Brooklyn rebuilt
Houston rebuilt
Nobody rebuilt by “clearing the books early.”

What did they rebuild?
And no shite we need picks. We're not getting lottery picks from Poole and Murray's contracts.

All I’m sayin is…
1. Letting CJ/Poole expire does not create cap space
2. Over the cap teams replace salary via trades, not free agency
3. Big contracts are tools, not commitments
4. Rebuilding means converting salary into assets, not deleting salary
5. You can rebuild and keep Poole/Zion—those are not opposites
And your kidding about Utah and Brooklyn right?

But we aren't a free-agent destination, so we don't need to clean out salary. We are required to spend 90% of the cap, in any case. We can only build the team through trades and through the draft.

I absolutely love that this response or "calm down" is always the go to response instead of actually answering the questions or admitting I have a point. I'm off the rails for explaining something that you don't understand?
