I’ve seen this pop up recently on social media.
My oldest was just diagnosed with Flu Type A this evening.
He started Tamiflu but wondering if Oscillococcinum is a good prophylactic for the rest of the family.

Not sure. Did you ever see the RKJ, jr clip on Flu vaccines?

It’s a homeopathic remedy using extremely diluted duck liver (literally essence of quackery)

I read up on during the Covid pandemic and it appears to have no medicinal value whatsoever. You’d be better off buying a pack of KN-95 masks to protect them.

Oscillococcinum

Waste of time and money

Might work in conjunction with a trip to the chiropractor followed by some reiki and then some crystal therapy

My dad is a doctor. His recommendation for the flu has always been: ibuprofen and Powerade.

Take fever reducers and stay hydrated. You'll be fine. A couple of days of being sick.

Unless you're very young, very old, or immunocompromised, you'll survive the flu just fine.

A few days of discomfort shouldn't turn people into little bitches.

Just like most everyone I’d assume, I’m more concerned about the young kids and wife who just had a hysterectomy last week.
The oldest with the flu is vomiting pretty good. So I’ll try anything that’ll help the others.

Anyone doing Tamiflu prophylactically?

Once again I quote my dad: unless you're very young, very old, or immunocompromised, you don't need the flu shot. You can survive the flu.

Around 20 years ago they ran out of the flu shot because so many people ran out and got it, scared of getting sick. A lot of people who truly needed it, the flu was life-threatening for them, couldn't get it because people who didn't need it got it to avoid 3 days of being sick.

Then send him to the grandparents or set them up in a hotel for the duration.

Your best option is to separate and quarantine.

I think his goal is to avoid getting his whole family sick around the holidays. Survival of everyone is a given.

It’s crap with no evidence of benefit whatsoever.

If you can’t take tamiflu then just take DayQuil during the day and NyQuil at night along with an assload of water.

Your body will do the rest.

Yeesh. Surprised your wife's OB agreed to a surgery during the flu season with little vectors in the house.

I have heard Xofluza (baloxavir marboxil) is way more effective than Tamiflu

LOL.

I agree with him on additives in our food, etc. But when it comes to vaccines, he's out of his realm and comes off as nuttier than squirrel shite.

And I say this as someone who uses homeopathic/natural remedies a lot. But Western medicine has its place.
