If Alberta wanted to become a 51st state, would you take them?

I say yes. Leave Canada behind and become Americans

YES. The natural resources would be a huge contribution to a US country.

It would be really awesome if they joined the US, and the next two years the Oilers and Flames won the Stanley Cup.

Yes in a heartbeat.
Great people, rich land.

How's the hunting and fishing? Do they have a decent sized airport? Are the people generally conservative or are they hooked on Canadian socialized medicine? What's considered conservative in Canada can be considered quite liberal by US standards.

Being mostly serious, if there was a temporary arrangement between the US and Canada to exile Minnesota to Canada while Alberta is being given a test run with the US .....I wouldn't mind that.

Throw in the Yukon and NW Territories and we have a deal.

I’d be more than happy to trade Alberta for Minnesota..

It would be a Blue state and completely bollux the Electoral College in favor of the Dems.

Used to know a Canadian that told me eventually all of Western Canada sans BC would try to join the US at some point because of the severe divide in beliefs between east and west. This was 20 years ago. I told him the same thing I writing here: Ottawa will send the army and openly shoot West Canadians down in the open before they allow that to happen. Alberta will never be allowed to leave.

Oregon and Washington are fantastic states, if you take out their shitbag big cities - Georgia is getting close to being the same with the cesspool we all know as Atlanta…

And Alberta is dominated by Edmonton and Calgary.

No. Too many liberals in Canada. It would make it harder for the good guys to win elections.

I’m really astounded that people here can’t see it. Alberta could easily be a split congressionally speaking, or even tilt blue. There are a heck of a lot of baws, hunting and fishing, and resources in California, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, New York etc …but the urbanites outnumber the good guys.
