Thinking of taking my family of four on their 1st ski trip this April. Looking for ideas of best places for a family, kids are older (18 & 13), that have not skied before and it has been 15 + years since i have as well.
-Best location in Colorado for a family
-Condo, house, or resort
-How close do we need to be to lifts ?
-How many ski days do we need ? Thinking 3 days should be fine

Breck, Keystone, Copper or Winter Park would be the best for early April. For a family I would get something ski in/out or close to it.

Ditto. Easy to fly into Denver and take the highway to the resort. ski in/ski out is the best

Breckenridge meets all of your criteria. Book quickly.

Why? Colorado has the least amount of snowpack since they started tracking it in the 80's. Conditions are the worst they have been for at least 40 years. I would recommend the OP wait and see if we have a ski season here before booking anything.
It rained in Telluride, Aspen, and Steamboat this week. Rain in late December would be wild for Denver but unheard of in the mtns.

Most slopeside units are already booked up for the season. It’s going to snow in March and early April. That’s pretty much a given.
If you want a good location, you book it. Every year.

Wolf Creek always has the most snow.in Colorado. Great ski area just have to commute from Pagosa springs or South Fork.

The size of the mountain in Breck offers alot of places to stay really close to the mountain with not needing a car OR even needing to catch a bus. I LOVED the mountain BUT I don't do well with the Co elevation.
Feeling like shite but loving the mountain didn't do it for me and when you consider you're sleeping basically at the same elevation of the highest run in Park City AND the 2.5 drive/ride from the airport to the mountain, Co is "risky" for first timers or though who don't have much experience with elevation.
And to note...I suggest booking a shuttle rather than renting and driving yourself. It doesn't take much for I-70 to get nasty and it's normally traveled by people who have no business driving on that interstate.
