Luckevia Thurman ordered a Waymo to take her 17-year-old daughter Isis Walker to school. That’s when things went off course.
The Waymo arrived as ordered, only there was something extra included: a man hiding in the vehicle’s trunk.
“It was a moment that I won’t forget for sure,” said Isis to KRON4. “It didn’t feel real.”
quote:
Isis’s mom rushed to the scene when her daughter alerted her to what was going on.
“My heart was just speeding, it dropped,” said Thurman. “I catch my composure in the minute, seeing that man in the trunk. He was big and it was scary.”

Waymo should add a Trunk Monkey feature.

Well, it is California.
But don't these autonomous cars have cameras and features to prevent someone climbing in the back?

Yes, and they're programmed to shut down if someone tampers with them or fricks with the car in general.
I rode in one in ATL last week and it was actually pretty cool.

I dated a girl about 8 years ago who was always putting her 14 year old in Uber/Lyft to send her to her friend's house.

It's kind of hard to underrstand, but is the guy asking to get let out and she says why are you in here?
Not sure what I do here. You don't want to let him out because he could be dangerous, but then again, the man needs to get out.

Get out, close the door, and pay for a Waymo trip to the police station. Let them sort it out.

TDIL that Waymo is some sort of autonomous ride service.
And that there are people who actually walk and breath among us who would put their own child into one of them alone in Los Angeles and trust them to arrive safely at school.
I get half freaked out when my 35 year old married daughter takes an Uber alone.

No, this one really isn't complicated. You don't let the dude out and let Waymo and/or the police deal with it
