How would everyone feel about drafting another OT in the first rd?

Quick path to a pretty elite OL is within grasp if we:
Cut Ruiz and restructure his deal to spread his dead cap.
Sign one of the top guards in free agency to a 2-3 year deal
Slide Fuaga to RG
Draft Francis Mauliguo the Miami RT.
Re-sign Fortner in free agency to backup McCoy.
We could easily absorb cutting Ruiz and signing an expensive free agent Guard because 3/5 of our starters would be locked up at least through 2027 on rookie deals
Obviously this would help protect Shough but also improve our running game.

Yes im in favour and made an excellent thread about this last week
I want to trade down for additional capital and then take one of the 2 or 3 tackles that would be there from 10-20.
Move Fuaga to RG and have the best and most athletic OL in the NFL for the next 5 years. This offensive line is youthful and will travel in January.
You guys know how much I heckin love Samoans. All they care about is God, Family, and Football. They are the safest picks. Absolute WARRIORS who play through minor injuries and are tough as nails.
Utah's Spencer Fano (or Miami's Francis Mauliguo) next to Fuaga. We will DOMINATE the NFC South for the next 5 seasons.

I wouldn't hate it, but I'd prefer a different position (BPA @ DE, DT, OLB, DB, WR)

Yah I really would love Downs or one of the DEs.. but hard to pass up protecting your franchise QB and improving your running attack.
I also fundamentally think an elite OL improves your defense too by controlling the ball and keeping them off the field

If you don't believe in Fuaga, sure. If you do, you absolutely don't take another tackle in the 1st round. Elite guards can be had in the 2nd and 3rd. You can't keep throwing first round capital on the same position every damn year.

Why do we keep saying this? How about keep our RT at RT and get an actual G to play G?

If you missed on them though then you kind of have to. They are way to critical to ignore just because you failed on your previous picks.

f you don't believe in Fuaga,
And this is where coach evals are important. He was not drafted by Moore, so this may or may not be his guy. If Moore sees the potential there, then yeah you focus on DL in this draft. G and C should only be selected in the first if you have a truly elite prospect. Otherwise you save those for rounds 2+.

bc if we get a better RT to play RT and Fuaga is a better G than what we have, then we are upgrading 2 spots.

Saints need a playmaker outside.

He’s fine at RT, just been dealing with injuries. It didn’t work with Peat, Ruiz, or Penning. I get occasionally it can work. Or we can let Fuaga play his natural position and get a natural G to play, G.

I’m not impressed with Fuaga this year, he may be better at guard. If Olu Fashano had fallen to us it would be a different story
At this point, take Mauigoa and move Fuaga to RG. Free agency for LG. Shuck doesn’t do us any good if we get him hurt

most of the "OT's" being spoken about are G/OT capable. I don't care who plays where. I want 5 dudes. I feel like we have 2.5 dudes.

And if the staff does think Fuaga can play RT.. then all of the OP stands and just draft a guard to replace Ruiz in the 2nd or 3rd

i like the dunker dude but not sure if we're in a great position of nabbing him probably where he'll get drafted at. He's a pure G imo.

See what you crazy people have done! You’re making me agree with Proximo. Proximo!
Although I like Fuaga at LG next to Banks with a FA LG and Ruiz to backup center.

If they are the BPA then fine. BPA needs to be the focus.
