Look at the Chiefs. Mahomes and Minshew both out with ACL injuries.

Need to give Shough a better OL while under a rookie contract.

I disagree. I think we got lucky with Banks and Fuaga (and you can make a case the verdict is still out on Fuaga.) But this FO’s hit rate on OL in the draft is abysmal. That’s not to say we should never take them but I’d feel more comfortable with them getting at least one interior OL in free agency.

And I don’t think it’s necessarily a Saints problem. There’s tons of teams with bad OL play and have a hard time developing their guys.

We can spend money to get guards in FA. If we can get a steal in the 2nd or 3rd round... maybe, but I'd save the draft for premium positions that cost a lot more to get FA studs.

I hope we can do most of it through free agency. Like a G and an OT, but it has to be players that are better than what we already have.

Are you listing stupid Micky???

I think we need 2 key things offensively:
1. Game changing RB who is a threat at all 3 phases
2. A truly dominant OG

I think we need 2 key things defensively:
1. A disruptive interior DT, one who can stop the run & cause issues in the passing games (think of what Sheldon Rankins was right before achilles tear or prime david onyemata --- that is quality, doesn't need to be aaron donald or chris jones).
2. A speed rusher to pair with the bigger stronger DEs that we have

Fix those 4 things and we're playoff contenders next year.

WR in Round 1

Maybe DL in Round 2.

Slot corner or RB in Round 3 (if they don’t take one in FA - but I think they will.)

Spend some $$ on a solid young LG in FA like Cole Van Lanen. Sign a cheap backup RG with some age on him and draft a RG next year to replace Ruiz.

Uh, yeah, that’s why we draft an offensive lineman in the first round almost every year.

I think this meme needs to die. Over the past 10/12 years we’ve done better than most realize. Below is a post I made a few weeks ago.

quote:

We were drafting in the late teens and low 20s for a while. I think the “hit” ratio is up to par at that point.

The good - McCoy, Banks, Fuaga, Ramczyk & Armstead
The bad - Peat & Saldiveri
The ugly - Penning, Ruiz & Leonard

I think people just focus on Ruiz and Penning and forget the hits we’ve had. I’m all aboard protecting our QB and not taking the Bengals approach.
