France did it quietly, behind closed doors.

quote:

Earlier this week, EU leaders failed to agree on the European Commission’s controversial proposal to use Russia's immobilized central bank funds to finance Kiev’s military and economy.

quote:

French President Emmanuel Macron “betrayed” Friedrich Merz by failing to back the German chancellor’s push to steal Russian assets frozen in the EU to fund Ukraine, the Financial Times has claimed.

quote:

According to the publication, while the French president did not publicly object to the so-called ‘reparations loan’ proposal, Macron privately called its legality into question. Moreover, his team reportedly indicated that France, saddled with mounting debt, would not issue guarantees in case the impounded assets had to be returned to Russia. The FT claimed that Macron joined Belgium, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic in opposing the plan, thus “killing the idea.”

quote:

EU leaders instead approved an interest-free €90 billion ($105 billion) loan to Ukraine backed by the bloc’s budget. Picking up the tab will be taxpayers in all EU member states except for Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, which opted out.

RT

Politico reports that Bulgaria and Malta also opposed the seizure.

Good, sounds like the wise course of action.

Good again, on the three who opted out.

I'm certain the citizens of the other EU nations wish their leaders had done the same.

If they aren't serious about ending this war then why should we be?

They're very serious about us paying for it.

They're very upset that Trump refuses to pick up the check.

The Autopen would have written the check off our accounts to pay for it.

President Newsom would write a check off our accounts to pay for it.

That's what they and Zelenskyy are hoping for now,

Along with the Ukraine Bros that post here.

So, at least six European countries actually have some semblance of brains making these decisions, and want to see this whole thing de-escalated instead of throwing more napalm on a dumpster fire.

I an pleasantly surprised.
