This pelicans team is fun to watch

I’ve seen some dreadful games during the Zion era. Despite the lousy record, this team really has been more fun than not to watch live. They play with intensity and energy and that’s saying something for a team dead in the water. It’s a good live product right now.
If the pelicans stay healthy . . . I think they’ll get to the play in.
This trio of rookies is really great, and Seddiq Bey is a player we’ve been needing for at least the last 10 years.

It was fun watching the process. I remember they couldn't pass the ball without turning it over early on when Borrego took over. Also saw guys doing way too much and played outside of their roles. And we saw players having no clue how to defend and still over helped every single possession.
To today where they look like a good team who shares the ball and plays with competent discipline on both sides of the ball.
Still isn't there yet but we are seeing tons of progression from game to game and week to week.

Borrego has them playing competitive basketball, that’s all most were asking for. Win the games you should win and compete in most games. It’s definitely been fun to watch especially when I was tuning in to watch them get their arse stomped nightly prior to them learning to play basketball again.

Told yal that trade was to get Bey, people laughed. Dude is straight up the enforcer and vet who can put up 30 mpg and sets the tempo like herb does.
Leave him open and he can hit those 3s. Great contract value too

Monday should be another fun game.
The earlier mavericks/Pels game was wildly entertaining, and Flagg vs Queen has some juice behind it.

Saddiq being 26 just broke my brain. Along with Looney being 29.
These dudes are MEN at 18. Saddiq feels like he’s had a full comeback arc already.

The pelicans have had the talent to be a playoff team for the last several years. Biggest mistake of the franchise was not investing in more vet leadership during the early days of Zion, BI, Trey etc. Seems like they thought one legit pro in McCollum could set the culture, but that’s not realistic.

Year one they brought in JJ Reddick and Derick Cousins, and still had Jrue holiday and Etwaun Moore in house.
Year 2 they tried Stephen Adams and Eric Bledsoe.
Year 3 they make the trade for CJ.
The biggest mistake this franchise made was coddling Zion, covering in the media for his inability to stay in shape, and letting him sit when he was healthy but too fat. At a certain point no amount of leadership can squeeze blood from a stone.

I think that bringing in DeAndre Jordan was a good move for the young guys. His 2 part podcast with the Pels is worth a watch.

No, the biggest mistake of the franchise was not seeing the writing on the wall for these guys not being winners here and trading them when their value was at its highest. Always taking too long to make moves until both Zion and BIs value flatlines. Veterans on the team are not changing BI and Zion. They’re both hard headed and stuck in their ways.

The problem, though, is that we are a small market that has to coddle a superstar if we want to keep him long term. Everyone here was scared to death that Zion was going to want to leave. Half this board wanted Griff fired when the "piano scandal" happened, because they were afraid that we weren't doing enough to keep Zion happy.

best way i can describe this team is they are just a "vibe" to watch.
