I was there last night too. Had reservations at 9.

First off, we went to the bar to have drinks before we got sat.

I asked for a menu. They brought me the menu. I had been looking at their menu all week online and had some things in my head that I wanted. Well guess what...they had a special scaled down Valentines menu. So, pretty much everything I had been eyeing all week was not on the menu. They could have told me beforehand when I called to make res. that it was gonna this way. Total bullshite. Strike One
Then, we sit down, the waitress comes to ou table with a shittyass attitude. Granted, it was 930 and she had probly been running her arse off, but, I asked questions, and she didnt want to give me answers. She also seemed pissed when we asked her for anything. Strike 2.
Lastly, my GF and I finally figured out what we wanted out of the 10 choices on the menu. I got the Filet special, with Softshell Crab, and Mashed Potatoes on the side. My GF got the Stuffed Catch of the day with mashed potatoes on the side.

We made the order, were ready to eat, and guess what, the waitress comes up and says they ran out of mashed potatoes and they could substitute with French Fries and that was it. Strike 3.

Food was OK, Fish better than steak. not what I was expecting. Overall, I give it D for last night.

I wouldn't necessarily judge a restaurant based on a Valentine's performance.

the aspargus was cold (mighta intended to be that way) nonetheless i hate cold food, that should be served hot... Did you have girl that looked like a black head jeani grafalo? or the fat girl? owner is nice guy... i told wife they must be running short on potatoes bc it was about a spoonful... i got the filet as well, steak was good, crab was greasy and the holandaise sauce was bland.. wife got the shirmp which looked like fried gas station boudin balls,,,, shoulda put some kinda cream sauce on it.. it tasted pretty good , not great... 9 dollar glass of wine was def not worth it.. cheesecake was good .. even tho i dont eat much desert, so I could be niaeve.
For Vday.. the coulda made mood a bit better, reminded me eating at my kitchen tabel with every light in the fuking house on.
once again ... it was ok.

Is there an archive you can look back and see the same complaints from diners who eat out on Valentines and Mother's Day last year?

As I said in an earlier post, expecting good service on Valentines is like expecting love at a gang bang. I don't care if you made your reservations 10 years ago, its going to suck.

Wait 3 months and you will see people asking for recommendations for Mother's Day. COOK SPECIAL SOMETHING AT HOME!!!!! If you are so lame you can't throw a steak on the grill, you have my pity.

But they will march out like sheep and then complain.

While I agree with you on the Valentines Day service I still say its bullshite that you look at a menu online, call the restaurant, make reservations, expect to have a full menu, and when you show up they have a scaled down nickel and dime menu and not the full menu. If I would have known this I wouldnt have gone. frickin bullshite.

I agree w/ this statement but I went 1x to this place on a normal Friday night... Place had VERY few tables seated. The service was OK but the food left alot to be desired for what you paid for. Also, the place is overly bright...they need to dim the lights! I think this place is overly hyped for what it is...

I have only ever been there for lunch, and that was years ago, so I am not defending Roberto's, but all restaurants. The only restaurant I have ever had a good experience on Valentine's was Ruffino's. We ended up there not realizing it was the weekend before VD, and it may have been because our waiter was one of my employees who was moonlighting.

As you can tell by my review above, I was not impressed and have not been back.

I've been there a couple of times and was not impressed. It definitely didn't live up to the hype (nor the price). Maybe it's better at lunch, when prices are lower (?)

this is actually VERY common for restaurants on V-Day. restaurants often simplify their menus to make it easier to handle. This is part of the reason I don't go out on V-Day; service and quality of food is always going to suffer because of the crowds.

i took my wife out on Friday night; we had a great time, great service, and great food. stayed home on V-Day, cooked a delicious porterhouse steak and had a nice bottle of wine.
