I finally sat down and read it the last few days. I may get blasted, don’t get me wrong I loved a lot of it and didn’t want to put it down yet I found more than a little of the prose to be gobbledegook. How high was Cormac when he wrote this lol, I don’t like having to reread a sentence or paragraph 3 or 4 times to even begin to try and comprehend what he is saying. It interrupts the flow of the story.

Was this the first McCarthy book you’ve read?

If so, his style and lack of punctuation can be jarring. But once used to his style, i find it flows easily and is not difficult to follow.

Not that, literally some things he writes dont make any sense at all. Like he's trying to be really deep but its just strings of words.

Open Blood Meridian too any random page. High chance a violent event occurs on that page. A dark, dark book. The Comanche attack was horrific and amazingly written.

Very descriptive. No narrative. I found it to be one of those books I just wanted to finish.

I think it's a great book and have enjoyed everything I've read by him. I prefer No Country for Old Men and The Road over it but I can easily see why someone wouldn't care for Blood Meridian. Not just the violent aspect but just the style. I certainly wouldn't call it gobbledegook but it's very to the point.

I know some on here have done the audiobook version of it but I could easily see myself disliking it if I did the audiobook. It's one that needs to be read at your own pace and one that I paused to think about certain paragraphs quite a bit and reread paragraphs to let it sink in. Not exactly what you do with audiobook.
