I’ve read several people mentioning he was having health issues, but no details. He was a goofball but definitely made things interesting for Tiger fans for a number of years. Best wishes for the Mad Hatter!

Many of the local media in Kansas and former staff members there said that Les had problems. Serious memory problems and not just the quirky silly kind he had at LSU. I read one article back in the day after Les had been let go that said a couple of staff members said they had no idea how he could have gotten the job. Best wishes to old Les.

There was a photo at one of his children's graduation or wedding where he didn't look good. That's the only detail I'm aware of.

I remember the photo from that thread. He looked rough. Also remember people mentioning memory problems or something of the sort. I never saw anything officially reported on it though.

It is known in coaching circles he had a tumor removed and issues have been resurfacing. Kansas may have been completely in the dark about it when hiring him

Former Kansas and LSU football coach Les Miles has experienced a few health issues, most notably a mild COVID-19 case in 2020 where he had minor symptoms but remained functional remotely, and an older scare in 2001 involving a brain cyst requiring surgery, which he recovered from well, but recent reports from 2024 mention "declining health" potentially impacting his legacy/Hall of Fame status, though details aren't specific beyond general health concerns and a lawsuit related to vacated wins

Certainly there is a want for him to return to health.

He has "the stare" of severe mental decline. It was all over his daughter's wedding pictures.

There were definitely issues at the end of his LSU tenure. I always remember the video after A&M where he called his daughter the wrong name and she corrected him like it had happened many times

Sucks to see him like that

The stairs photo is tough to see. Prayers for he and his family.

He was an alpha during that 2006-2013 streak. LSU played a cloggy style during his tenure but damn if we didn’t win a lot of games.

Damn, I hope Lane can get Les into Tiger Stadium and recognized.

History will be kind to Les

It’s true. Despite Les’s flaws, no LSU coach has ever had an extended run of consistent success like he had over 9 seasons from 2005-2013. Only 1 truly bad year in there (2008) and even that was still an 8-win season.

His last couple of years until he was fired were not great, but the overall track record stands up against any other LSU coach.

And isn't his son going to work with Marshall Faulk at Southern?
