I think a lot of us had some disagreements with the official ratings a while back. What would you have rated differently?

A refresher on the system:

3 Stars: Worth making a special trip for

2 Stars: Worth making a detour for

1 Star: Worth stopping for

Bib Gourmand/Rising Stars: Those with good value/potential

I am surprised that none of the old Creole classics even got a mention.
Galatoire’s,
Commander’s, Antoine’s, Arnaud’s, Brennan’s.
I also would have given GW Fin’s a star.

GW Fin’s

Ate there a couple weeks ago. Simply amazing. The complimentary biscuits deserve a Michelin Star all on their own.

Honestly...no recommendations on restaurant.

The way to do New Orleans cuisine is by the dish, not the restaurant.

Choose where to eat based on what dish you want to eat. Every restaurant has 1-3 great dishes they do extremely well or better than any other, and a complete menu that, at best, they do above average.

In New Orleans you go to a restaurant for their dish, not their menu

I could not disagree with this more.

This might be true for the old places that have been around 75 years but otherwise not the case at all

Leaving off Gautreau's, Lilette, Commander's, and Brennan's was odd to say the least.

New Orleans food scene is decent, but highly overrated by those who like it. Sorry, not sorry!

I'll preface this with saying I believe they kept the NOLA list short since it was part of a broader group/region "South". If they graded it on its own:

3 Stars:
None

2 Stars:
Emeril's

1 Star:
Saint Germain
Dakar
Kingsway
Acamaya
Restaurant August

Bib Gourmand: Too many to list, and some of these are probably worthy of 1 star - but:
Mosquito Supper Club
Restaurant R'evolution
N7
Paladar 511
Clancy's
Lilette
Saint Claire
GW Fins

I wasn't. They wanted New Orleans to cater to their likings and not the culture here. I wish they never came

I love it. Makes me realize how full of shite the stars are when you know the local industry better than the people rating it.

No doubt the ratings are their ratings. Will still suggest the Eater 38 list as a better representation of New Orleans dining.

Galatoire’s & Clancy’s got a ‘recommendation’ but so did Elsie’s in Baton Rouge and those are totally different dining experiences.

Michelin is just as lame as any other rating entity.
