if I can include Gabriel era genesis then it’s a landslide. If I can’t then I have to go with talking heads as I prefer a band dynamic and talking heads had some of my favorite players of all time in addition to more influential sound and songs, plus they are more fun all the way around.

This is the key question. However, Talking Heads are a top five all-time for me so i would go with them. Peter Gabriel is way up there though. Selling England By the Pound, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Peter Gabriel (Melt), and Peter Gabriel (Security) are all awesome. So did not age that well for me and has been replaced by Security (1982) IMO.
