Don’t Want Many 1-Year Rentals in the Portal. Hopefully most have 2 years eligibility.

There are EXCEPTIONS to that rule but not many.
1 Year rentals means there is an emphasis to rebuild the position every single year that’s done.

Just take the best available at positions of need and if possible a solid depth piece with a couple years of eligibility.

We just proved we can field an elite secondary with 1 year guys. This thing will always be year by year unless we start fielding top 3 recruiting classes every year with high retention. Lane also pulled a group of mercenaries on their DL in 2024 and it was probably the best DL in the country. You don’t discriminate against 1 year players.

I'd argue Haulcy and Delane were the two most important transfers, maybe overall players, on the team this season. They were the biggest reason a, at best, mediocre defense, became a top 20 (power conf.) defense.
You take the best players you can get...then you do it again the next year if you have to. Yes, ideally you would like impact transfers to stay multiple years. But you don't pass on potential All conference/All American players just because they might only stay one season.

Yes. It's like people don't understand that you can't build teams the old way. You can't build/establish depth. Guys are not going to hang around in a program waiting to play. I'm not saying there won't be players that do. What I am saying is that most of the players will not do it.

Those one year rentals in AJ Haulcey and Mansoor Delane really blew this year.
I hate having SEC ready first team all american's ready to step in and take over a starting spot.
