He has historically been known to be a great recruiter, and I guess a pretty good RB coach, but does he still have as much of an influence in the NOLA area as in years past? Has the recruiting landscape shifted with NIL vs. traditional in-house visits, relationships with the family, etc.?

It will be similar to Roy leaving The Office

Yes, NIL has made him obsolete. All we need to know is who to pay.

It's hard to say honestly because this is a first for all of us. We've never seen Frank recruit to somewhere other than LSU in an NIL era so it's going to be a degree of wait and see. I think LSU will likely have a upgrade from a coaching perspective when the dust settles at RB tbh. It would be great to have his relationships and ties to the state but this is a whole new world that we're in with the now not only NIL but also rev share era. I think if you're going to lose Frank, this is probably the best era for that to occur relative to it not hurting you as much as maybe past eras.

So many Frank Wilson threads saying the same thing over and over again.

On an LSU sports message board, no less. Crazy, yet here you are wasting time when you could have scrolled past to a non-Frank post.

Easy, champ.

Just review the board before making a thread anytime something pops in your head.

NIL and the profit-sharing aspect of recruiting are still evolving, so it isn't that easy to determine. But it is not as big a blow as it would have been even 10 years ago, and no one is irreplaceable. There are and always have been people with reach into NOLA who have connections to LSU, though few have seemed to develop as strong and lasting connections with that football community.

Long and short is Frank will be an asset to any team looking for some reach into the New Orleans area, but LSU will do fine with or without him and can find a replacement who can achieve most, maybe all, of what Frank can in recruiting when coupled with LSU-level NIL capabilities and the charismatic draw of the current head coach.

Yes, he is probably the most respected guy who recruits in the area. I think a lot of that is that he doesn't write off guys who don't choose him, he plays the long game very well.

To a degree, but there are still players who do not make decisions solely on money, the thinking is that a guy like Frank will get the lion share of 50/50 recruits.

In terms of coaching abilities, I am not sure Frank is any better than many other running back coaches.

He was a HC at UTSA and McNeese........he has recruited at other schools without NIL. But according to some on this board he was a top recruiter without NIL as well.

It is his lack of production in his RB room that makes it better for LSU for him to go.

Not as big as people think. Sure he is a good recruiter but let’s be honest. The game has changed and LSU will always be LSU.

Lane isn’t chasing 5 stars. He can take 2 stars and get 5 star performances in his system. As long as LSU is hanging around the top 12 in composite rankings we’re fine.

Did I mis-type something? I said we've never seen Frank recruit to somewhere that wasn't LSU IN an NIL era. NIL went live in 2021 and Frank has been at LSU that entire time.

If Lane can get all the NOLA coaches together and reassure them that the kids here will be taken care of financially with all these national NIL deals, that will go a longer way than "hey im from New Orleans too come play for us"

Looking at some of these posts, you would think a coach never left a football program before.
