Petition to bring back The Bluebonnet Bowl

This is another example of how much cooler Houston used to be. They had the iconic brand Oilers and lost them. They apparently previously had the bowl now known as the Texas Bowl branded as “The Bluebonnet Bowl”. Look at the history it was a pretty decent bowl that brought in bigger brands.
LSU has played in it twice and is 0-2. Regardless it just looks and feels much better than the generic Texas Bowl branded. Played Tennessee there in 72. While we’re on the topic, why not just play SEC teams in bowl games like we once did? Screw it keep the money in house.
The group in charge of the bowl in Houston really needs to take a look in the mirror and ask themselves why can’t we get back to that?

It died for 13 years after 1987 due to low attendance
Started back in 2000 as the Houston Bowl, which is now the Texas Bowl

Agree. Maybe there are some legal complications as I don't think the bowl ever paid Texas and Pitt for the 1987 game.
But I would think the statute of limitations would have expired.
Bluebonnet Bowl sounds 10x better than Texas Bowl.

Because part of the fun of watching bowl games are the OOC matchups.

Ehh only if it’s vs certain OOC teams. There’s really only a handful from the Big10 and Big12 id care to see us play in a bowl. It’s a short list compared to just seeing us play SEC teams we rarely see in conference play such as Tennessee

Went to the 1972 Bluebonnet Bowl when I was 10. I remember walking by a big glass window after the game and there were Tennessee fans in the room and I banged on the glass and yelled Tennessee sucks. My mom grabbed me as fast as she could but all of the LSU fans walking with us laughed and cheered.

We’re playing every team in the league every other year from now on, so this isn’t really a thing anymore.
I think playing an unusual opponent who you otherwise wouldn’t play is much more interesting.

The first LSU football game I consciously remember, Bert Jones Vs. Condredge Holloway 1972 Bluebonnet Bowl I was 7.
Burt did not have a good game - Holloway outplayed him, Vols beat us 24-17.

Why care? In fact why care about any bowls outside of the CFP?
They are what they are. With opt outs and coaching changes they’re becoming more irrelevant.
What LSU team are we going to see?
What is the impact of Tennessee vs Illinois?
