Midway USA will have what you need online. The swap is easy, a block held with two screws holds the barrel to the receiver, no special tools needed. You can YouTube but not really needed just pull the stock off and you will see the block.

I just did the same a few weeks ago. I ordered this Shaw threaded barrel form Primary Arms, but I see they are currently out of stock.

It installed without any issue, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. I also ordered and installed the BX trigger, which is nice.

I would go with a carbon fiber. A Proof Research would be over kill, but you can get the one that Ruger is installing for $250 if you can find it in stock.

I have the Kidd ultralight barrel. Super accurate, and very light.

Keep in mind you may need a new stock as well if you get a bull barrel. I have a TacSol Xring on mine, it’s extremely light and is a tack driver. Paired with a Hogue overmolded stock, the rifle is light as a feather. The CAT Ben is right at home on this set up, due to it’s short length and light weight.

I have 2 threaded lightweight barrels on mine 2.

One is a Tactical Solutions x-ring, the other is the Volquartsen carbon. Both as very lightweight and very light.

The tactical solutions is more reliable as the volquartsen has much tighter chamber and when it gets a little dirty, it has trouble feeding fully into battery.

can you turn a screw? because there's three you'll need to remove. That's it.

It might take 5 minutes if you stop to grab a beer.

Midway had the Shaw 16" bull barrel marked down to $95 a couple weeks ago. I grabbed one, and bought a Magpul Hunter-X stock on sale. Just got the BX-trigger but have not had a chance to install it yet. Really happy with the look of the upgrades, hopefully it shoots halfway well.
