Saints would be at least 6-8 if they started Shough and ditched Groupe earlier

IMO, we probably come up short of winning the division, but we allowed Rattler and Groupe to sabotage our season for way to long.

We have no idea what we would be.
We have no idea if Shough would’ve struggled early and then maybe gets benched for Rattler and we yo-yo all year between them. We have no idea what growth KM has undergone after starting poorly, and what processes he has changed as a VERY young rookie HC over the course of the season.
Anyone speaking in absolutes about past results based on current potential is out of their mind. It’s played out amazingly well for us where we will have some decent picks AND momentum moving forward.

Shough sitting the first half of the season probably did him a lot of good.

Not necessarily. Shough is a rookie and most likely needed the time with the clipboard to get fully acclimated to the NFL.

There’s a strong argument to be made that Shough doesn’t look this good if he gets thrown right into the fire.
His development is far more important than a couple extra wins. This team needs alot of help still to make noise in the playoffs anyway.

we all knew this year was gonna be a burner season to get out of the Cap situation, and a roster that all believed was gonna be not good.
I have no issue with him sitting the 1st 1/2 of the year to acclimate - this season has unfolded pretty much the way we all expected, but had pleasant surprises as well that a lot of us never saw coming

Rattler was given an opportunity to make his case as a starter and the Saints needed to do their due diligence on him.
Shough needed an opportunity to acclimate, learn the system, practice, observe the starting QB and personnel, and finally start with a new coaches system starting to gel.
It worked out like the new coaches envisioned it happening. The business plan is being executed to ensure future success.

Like Shough, Rattler had to learn an entirely new system with new HC and OC. HE was thrown into the fire to start. Slowly the machine becomes oiled through the season. More familiarity of the system permeates the team.
Shough is inserted with a little familiarity and appears to live up to expectations CKM had of him.
It's a win/win.

Not with the way the team played early on.

Rattler is not an NFL caliber QB. Don’t know what took them so long to figure that out

He's a good backup. And if Shough was ready day one, he starts. He wasn't ready or Moore wanted a top 10 draft spot.

I am unsure what they saw in preseason that put Rat on top to start. I'd think TS could have handled the start of the season on maybe a harder schedule, despite what others think.

No. I didn't play this year. I will next year though. I have pretty good information I'm gathering for next year.
