Yeah I know, Frick him but the faster he gets on the court the faster we can move him. The only thing that would prevent Dumars from moving him now if Zion makes donation to cathedral(Gayle).

I don’t think him playing 10 or so games before the deadline isn’t going to change his value around the league. His value is what it is at this point. I’m not taking the ball out of Queen’s hands to give that fat frick touches

I'm not the expert on this, but I've been told that him playing less than 42 games could increase his value because in the sense that it makes his contract easier to cut for cap room purposes if a team does need to go this route.

Someone with more knowledge on this, please step in and confirm if what I said has truth to it.

Edit: Now there certainly might be teams who want to trade for him so that he can play and make them better.

The way I understand it, not an expert, is that next year is not guaranteed (nor the remainder of the contract). To hit his guarantees he has to meet all of his weigh ins (6-8) during the season for 20%. Then there are different thresholds starting at over 40 something games to guarantee the remainder. Even if he doesn't meet any of those, the team would have to waive him for him not to receive the money.

I believe he easily hits all his weigh ins, because they are ridiculously low. So at worse he's guaranteed at least 8ish million. I think he'll fight to make sure he goes over 40 games to get the next guarantees. If we try to sit him, he'll sue and the union will back him. So we can't let him not play, if he's cleared.

I actually think the contract might come back to bite us once we trade him. I think he'll blame us for holding him back or messing up his recovery. It can all end very badly..

Two teams stand out that could very well trade for him IMO

Clippers and Nets

exactly...

at this point, everyone knows exactly what Zion's value is... and realistically we are not getting anything of worth in return for him... i honestly would not be surprised if we just straight up cut him if we can't find a team dumb enough to trade for him...

and i fully support it... he is a cancer, all around, and we need to be rid of him, his laziness, his attitude, he overall presence, before it seeps into the rookies and younger players

Why Clippers?

They will want to continue the part time superstar tradition long after Kawhi is retired

They should've traded him for cam Johnson and cam Thomas a year or two ago. I've been calling for that trade.

And yes I know cam Johnson got traded from the nets.

Does Zion even go to the games to support his teamates?

Pelicans fans who are still secretly hoping for some magical change from Zion are genuinely pathetic

I mean we currently have the worst record in the league and traded away an unprotected first.

Thats the worst possible ending.

Zion can’t hurt us anymore. Cut him or bring him off the bench if he is in real shape.

He’s questionable for tomorrow. Kind of surprised tbh

Looks like he'll play. Honestly, it'll be good to see Borrego coach with a full squad.

Wow Zion healed AHEAD of schedule. First time in his life.

I think he senses that he is probably being cut in the offseason so he wants to hit the 41 game mark so some of his contract is guaranteed

Quicker than I thought it would be and I’d guess that the games played do factor in somewhat.

How is it that we had the first overall pick twice, in years with a player who was the consensus must-have, and they were both softer than a roll of Charmin?

Absolutely. All about the money. Zion does not give a shite otherwise.
