Franks recruiting ability had slipped in recent years. His rotations are questionable. He hasn’t locked down New Orleans as evidenced by Texas picking of the best player out of Nola.

Is it really a big loss if he goes to Texas for example. Does that mean Texas gets a few more out of Nola…maybe but so what. There are just as good athlete in other areas also. With the portal and NIL, they are all mercs anyways and as time goes on every schools percentage of home grown will be less than in years past as these kids chase dollars all over the country. Let Frank go poorly Coach RB’s for someone else.

College football as we knew it is dead and it’s something new altogether now. Do you care if the Saints players are from Louisiana? If Lane wants to keep him then great but I personally won’t lose any sleep if he doesn’t especially if he brings in a coach that can actually develop running backs.

If Texas allows him to take all the mid level roster cloggers LSU has in recent years and has him coaching their running backs into being slow with no vision, I think it's a win-win.

I'd like to keep Frank but LSU hasn't won a title with him and he's just not a great position coach

If his replacement is Kevin Smith from Ole Miss, then that would be a nice coaching upgrade

Frank has served LSU well and will have some success at his next stop if he leaves, but LSU isn't defined by Frank. Both parties will be fine

LSU can just go poach another St Aug, Karr alumni that is looking to break into college coaching and pay him $120k to be in recruiting or an analyst.

It’s hilarious that this is even a discussion considering Smith’s relationship to Lane... Smith is the better coach, actually played RB in the big boy league (might still be if not for injury).

Still trying to get an answer for my question below......posted in another thread....

To ALL the wet dream Frank Wilson enthusiasts saying LSU will LOSE the ENTIRE state if Frank Wilson isn't on the coaching staff next year.....

PLEASE name just ONE of his recruits that's won a natty. NAME JUST ONE!

We walked into A&M and Texas' back yard and got Caden, whom everyone wanted.

We got the No.1 RB in the class a year after that.

I get that some people on here don't want to hold on to him, but his recruiting has not dropped off. At All.

And they'd likely recruit better than Frank Wilson.

Ironic thread. The overreaction seems to be coming from those that want him gone.

It’s Lane’s call, and I won’t lose any sleep over where Frank Wilson coaches either, but the way LSU fans are turning on him for seemingly zero reason is pretty pathetic and a bit embarrassing. The dude is your current interim LSU HC and has done a fine job with no future guarantees. Not an easy thing to do and can obviously be a reputational risk. If we didn’t land Kiffin we would be pretty happy to still have him around.

Seriously, you are just backing into a conclusion you have already made. Who are you even trying to convince? If Lane wants to replace him, that will be the end of it - Frank is a big boy in a big boy industry. But to pretend like Frank has no value is stupid and disrespectful to all the guys that are out there playing for him, not to mention the guys that just signed.
