I'm looking to pull the trigger on my first suppressor in 2026 (or maybe 2027 depending on how bad the rush is with the $200 tax stamp price going to $0) and really would like something I can use across platforms for hunting/plinking/HD, acknowledging that a 30 cal can won't be quite as good as a dedicated 5.56 can for suppressing 5.56.

For what it's worth, this would be used on a 16" bolt-action 308, 16" bolt-action 5.56, and a 14.7" and 16" AR.

I like what I see from the Anthem series by LPM. Bonus is the QD version comes with both a flash hider I can stick on an AR and a muzzle brake I can put on the 308. The question for OB suppressor guys would be this: would you go with the standard size (Anthem-S) or the K size (Anthem-K) for an all-around can, and why? I understand the S2 will provide better sound suppression but would be longer and heavier - would that make the ARs too unwieldy? Would the K size even be worth the suppression benefits?

I’m not a pro but I use the Hyperion K on my longer 24 to 26 inch barrel stuff and use the my full size can on my 10 inch to 16 inch stuff.

Just make sure you read up on barrel restrictions for the can you get and make sure it will fit all your needs.

I’ll give up some sound suppression so I don’t have to carry a 26 inch barreled rifle with a 9 inch can on it.

I have a CAT JL for my 30.06 and run my 7 PRC through it as well. Very pleased with it.

I guess it depends on how you use it. When I shoot supersonic ammo through my full size for fun/target shooting, I'm still wearing hearing protection. It knocks a lot off, but not enough for me. So, I doubt you would notice an appreciable difference between the two using in that manner. If you plan to try to get away with not ever wearing hearing protection, I'd assume it's a big factor and you would do well to get as much sound suppression as possible.

Hunting wise, taking one shot, I doubt the few decibels difference overcomes the extra length you have to deal with.

I have the cgs Hyperion k also. Have it on a 16” 308. It is “louder” than my 300wsm with a thunder chicken but what I give up in sound I gain in weight, maneuverability in a box. It’s still way more quiet than without it though

LPM is underrated. Riley makes the best welded hybrid designs you can get imo. Read some PewScience to make a selection.

Appreciate all the comments.

That’s what led me to the Anthem S2 QD. I’m leaning that way due to the better sound suppression. It might make the AR feel like a spear but that’s probably preferable to a K sized can on a 308 rifle that doesn’t really do much from a sound standpoint.

One of my most versitile cans is a silencerco 46m.
Handles everything from 45-70 and 338 LM, to 308, 6.5, 45acp, all the way down to 223.
Can purchase different muzzle caps for smaller or bigger calibers
I have a booster and have shot it on a 1911 and a 9mm. 45acp is very quiet. It’s very quiet on my ar in 300 blackout good on my 308 but it really is super quiet on an encore in 300 bo. Just a thunk. Different end caps for 45, 9mm, 30 cal etc are about $80.
I generally keep it on my 300bo and 308, but it’s nice to have options. and it suppresses well too.
Wouldn’t mind picking up another.

I’m a cat man. I love my 308 alley cat. It’s stupid quiet on 300 black Cva scout with subs. It’s also real nice on 308 bolt with supers. I want the rdm alley cat so I don’t have to switch it between guns. I envision deer hunting and choosing which rifle based on distance.
