Looking for a new fitness watch

I’m torn between asking for a Fitbit Charge 6 or just using my wife’s Apple Watch and getting her a new one.
I just want to track my workouts and run/bike/hiking routes.
Does anyone just use their Apple Watch as a fitness band? Does it work well?

Did lots of research.
Apple Watch is a great smart watch but not the best fitness tracker
1) Garmin
2) Fitbit
3) Apple

Whoop is either 1 or 2 as a fitness tracker, but it’s not a watch

I would second this. Get a whoop and use a nice analog watch on the other arm or use literally anything else for a clock, like your phone.

Garmin. If running only, Coros has a good watch. Whoop has a subscription.
My Garmin Fenix has a 16 day battery life, looks way better than the square Apple, and does everything needed. Plus, the Garmin app is awesome.
You can find some damn good Garmin forerunners for cheap. Make sure it has the Amoled screen.

I tried a Whoop and a watch. Hated it. Not a fan of anything on my right wrist.
Garmin has great battery life. Can read text messages, just can't reply. I like it because I can at lease see who/what the message is and then respond whenever.
Apple watch needs to be charged daily. You would think that they would have fixed this already.

Galaxy Watch Ultra is legit, but if you're already on the Apple universe then honestly the Apple Watch will probably be your best bet unless your a serious outdoor athlete.

For normal people training this is all you need.
I got tired of wearing the device (Garmin). .
If you get a newer one with updated software and you wear it all the time you get accurate data. I tested VO2 max at the beginning of the year about two months after getting the Apple watch and it was right on VO2 max number.

I'll cast another vote for Garmin. I have an S70 because I wanted to use it for Golf and fitness tracking. If you're not a golfer, Garmin offers more suitable options for much cheaper.
The battery life across the Garmin line is absolutely incredible - 2 weeks on the S70 easily with a couple rounds of golf and daily workouts sprinkled in. I threw my Apple Watch in the drawer and never looked back.

I've had a Garmin Fenix 6 for 4 years. Battery doesn't last as long as it did when first purchased. With GPS activities, I still get about 4 days. without GPS activities, still get about 8 days.
Highly recommend. Tracks runs/walks/hikes/workouts/yoga/, as well as heart rate and sleep.
