But everyone told me trading next years 1st to make that pick this year was a bad move that would set us back for decades?

People are only mad about this because, by all accounts, it sounds like Dumars offered the pick without protections without even being asked to do so..

If you thought Queen was that good, you should’ve traded back the first pick and picked him instead of Fears. You don’t give up an unprotected 1st when you roster is borderline play in team when fully healthy. When have they been fully healthy?
Queen is great but the trade was dumb. They both can be true.

Since they knew he was this good and thought he was worth a an unprotected first and another first, they should have taken him at 7 and let Fears go to another team. Why risk a losing a player you feel is worth 2 firsts (one unprotected) for Fears?
