What do the Colts do for quarterback next year?

Jones probably won't be ready at the start of the season, he may not be ready by the end of the season. Hell, I'm not one hundred percent certain he is even under contract for them next year. Do you hope Richardson magically turns into a NFL quarterback? You have no first round pick next year or even the year after that. Do you even resign Jones now? Do you try to trade for Murray or Tua? I don't see Jacksonville putting Lawrence on the market now after the year they are having. Would you be desperate enough to trade a bag of footballs to the Browns for Watson? Do you take a chance on a Mac Jones/Kirk Cousins/Jameois Winston level backup? Is Brissett a free agent? I don't see the Cardinals letting him go if he isn't. He will be their new quarterback until the real new quarterback they draft is ready to start. Geno Smith maybe? The only options seem ugly and uglier for them. All of a sudden that Sauce Gardner trade looks worse for the Colts than the Micah Parsons trade did for Dallas.

They went from being a potential 1 seed to likely missing the playoffs really quick. They’ve lost 4 of the last 5, starting QB is out for the season and the Texans/Jags are both on fire right now.

Bengals should do them a solid by waiving Flacco. Colts pick him up as a bridge QB.

If the trade deadline still hadn't passed and I was the Colts GM, thinking I'd look at the cast of players currently on the roster and open up the draft picks to SF to try and get Mac Jones.
With the trade deadline passed, maybe still try to get Jones in the offseason and hope you can recreate what was happening this year up until the past few weeks?
