I was going to jokingly create this post earlier today about hurting my back and how it’s made me a wuss.

Not in the joking mode now. My back is fricked. I’ve hurt it in the past similar but never this bad. It’s like something tore.

I’ve been trying to get out of bed for 30 minutes and no luck yet. Movement is restricted. Either my back just won’t move in a certain way or I roll myself into a position that is freezing pain.

I really need to pee right now (why I’m up at this time) and I do feel almost stuck.

Sucks

Finally got out of bed. And I didn’t pee myself. Had been trying to roll out of bed on my left side. Had to roll onto my right side and roll diagonal to get out of my bed on the bed’s left side.

Not sure if it makes you feel any better, but this happened to me at the ripe old age of 31. It was like a 6 month period where my back would flare up every 4-6 weeks to the point that i had to roll around and use my momentum to stand up. Could not turn my neck a certain way, couldn't bend over, etc. Getting out of bed was almost impossible. At my worst I remember needing to pee in the middle of the night and physically being unable to get out of bed without wailing in pain.

It went away. No clue where it come from, no clue what happened, no clue why it went away.

The only thing I can tie it to is immense stress. Maybe the most stressful time in my life. Other than that, not a clue.

Two months ago I did a 5 mile tempo run, in 84 degree, 92% humidity. It was a hard run for me.

Came inside to take my shoes off and hacked my lower back up. Had to be lifted off the chiropractor table the next day because I was in so much pain. Talk about feeling like a puss, it was brutal.

Getting old sucks. Life was easier when I was out of shape and drinking bourbon every night.

The better shape I’m in, the more everything hurts all the time.

I was laughing at myself in my race yesterday. The thing that hurt last week is gone, but something else hurts today. Every. fricking. Time.

I was out and about all morning. Got back at noon and for most of my afternoon sat on my frumpy couch watching g conference championship games. After the Georgia game, I stood but and felt /heard a muscle popping

I blew mine up a while ago. I have a couple of bulging disks in my low back. You need to start training for it. The McGill big three are part of my core day. Hip thrust, reverse hyper, Jefferson curls, and seated good mornings all help to strengthen and stabilize the lower back. Scale these to wherever you are with pain and range of motion. Slowly increase weights or length as you go along. Take your time.

I have been suffering with back pain the last two years. I got injections, but after the third one, they were ineffective. 8 weeks ago tomorrow, I went under the knife in Tyler, TX. I can’t, in my wildest dreams could have imagined how easy the surgery and recovery have been.

It could have been a nerve issue in your next. I'm on the tail end of experiencing the oddity with my left side where if I raise my head and extend my left arm (like to shave, or get something out of the oven, etc.) there is piercing pain in my left shoulderblade, and my thumb and my index finger are consistently about 20% numb. I had to do the "slide out of bed" maneuver to get out as well. And sneezing... JFC, I never want to sneeze again.

Ortho took x rays and an MRI (been going on for six weeks) and it's sourced out of a nerve in my neck. Original cause was overcompensating for a wounded shoulder at the gym, which tightened up my left side.

Any bruising?

Do you have an old lady (or old man, I'm not here to judge) that can massage the area for you to see if that brings any relief?

If massage does help, you can go see a professional. Or get a foam roller to loosen your back up.
