YouTube TV starts out fine and gets blurry after 3-4 minutes

This has been an issue for several weeks now. I have YouTubeTV, and it’s especially bad when I’m watching a basketball or football game. When I’m first connected, the resolution is great, but it gets fuzzy after a few minutes.
If I close out the app and go back in a few seconds later, I again have great resolution, and then the process restarts.
FWIW I have a Chromecast that I got in March or April 2020.
I have a brand new modem and router for unrelated reasons.
I ran a speed test, and my internet speed is very fast.
418 mbps download speed and 172 upload speed.
What would you advise me to do? Get a new Chromecast, Fire stick, etc? Could it be something else?
Thanks.

Could be a lot of things. I’d lean toward the older chromecast or WiFi signal.
The $30 Onn Google tv 4k+ at Walmart isn’t bad. The $20 4k one isn’t so good.
That’s about it unless you have an oversubscribed ISP or VPN. More movement on the screen requires significantly more data.

Leaning towards the Chromecast being the issue. Get a fire stick

Thanks, guys.
have an older Chromecast model that isn’t tied to Google TV so I don’t think I can clear cache. I can plug and unplug the Chromecast but unsure of anything else.
I think the cache can only be deleted for Google Home for Androids and not iPhones.
Am I wrong?
I may end up getting a Firestick.

You know you can go into the YT settings and force it to always play at max resolution right?

Spend a little extra for a Roku ultra or nvidia shield if you want a bulletproof streamer

My only option for resolution within the YouTube TV app is Auto.
Whenever I change channels (from ESPN to CBS, for example) the problem instantly resolves.

Turn on Stats for Nerds from the start and see what is changing when the resolution goes to shite.

i tell you i hate YT more and more every day. seems there used to be a setting for 'maximum' you could pin for quality but they are making simple things (like setting a video to repeat) much harder than it needs to be and in some cases, they've simply removed functionality that used to exist.
the 'auto' thing seems like another fail; if it hiccups and dumps you into 360p, if it was forcedd to 4K or 1080p it would have to recover from that and keep playihng at the higher quality.

I have a Firestick and Roku of the same age. The Roku is better, especially for ESPN.

I have found that the stick devices are decent but not great streamers. Mine randomly buffer or downgrade the resolution. On the other hand, the boxes (Apple and Roku Ultra) perform much better. Mine never have the above problems. Definitely get a better streaming device.
