Seeing as how this team doesn’t have Joe Sloan anymore and you basically have a running backs coach in Wilson, an offensive line coaches in Atkins and Davis and a failed recievers coach in Hankton as your offensive brain trust why effing wait?? Kiffin has a whole month of bowl practice and can easily let Wilson coach the team but start installing his offensive concepts and just start calling plays in the bowl game from the booth or something!! Time is short in spring and fall practices so if we’re all about giving players the best opportunities then why not? Probably might also prevent some of these talented receivers and skill guys from leaving too because another month of running this putrid offense is probably reinforcing bad habits anyway.

Not happening. Fresh start after the season. Lane doesn’t want BKs stank on him

the simple truth is this isnt his roster. he's probably going to cut a lot of guys and bring replacements in.

why waste time teaching guys youre about to cut. you sit back and evaluate, thyen go at this roster with a scalpel when transfers sign

I see what you’re saying, but this isn’t his roster/isn’t his staff.
Waste of time to install entirely new scheme
with a bunch of guys that won’t be here.

100% of his effort is geared toward building a roster/staff for 2026.

He's absolutely lining up his staff and roster for next year. Things will move really quickly once the bowl game is behind us.

So you are saying because you a have lame duck, inept and ineffective, offensive staff in place now, then LK should give them the Glengarry leads?

That would be pretty stupid

I want him giving 100 percent of his time to the portal and player evaluations.
you dont install an offense without the oc anyway.

were getting ahead of other teams in the portal by having our coach not having to worry about practices and preparing for a bowl game

great point. and we finally have a coach that isnt afraid to leverage his advantages either. you just know he's hitting up players on playoff bound teams behind closed doors

but even more than that, what i've been impressed about from afar about lane the last few years in the portal is just his talent evaluation shines.

He will bring in guys that can ball, whether they are big national names already, or d2 kids. But CLK has en elite eye for talent and will kill it in the portal.

Consider this though if Kiffin were to coach the bowl game as head coach or just as the play caller and we balled out on offense what it would do for portal recruiting. Something to think about.

It is something non-traditional that helps recruiting that a CLK would think about

Kiffin is going to want to win immediately. Which means new WR's with experience. A bellcow RB, and obviously a new QB. A lot of these guys are going to transfer, just prepare for it.

The OL is going to be the main position he will really have to evaluate hard in terms of retention.

Im curious to see the type of olinemen we go after in the portal. Gonna be a challenge to build a good oline from almost exclusively the portal. Prob gonna need a couple younger guys to improve

I think you can work with Echols and Curne at G.

Adams would be a passable RT.

Braelin Moore returning would be fantastic.

I am not sold that most of the current offensive starters are crap and therefore disposable. Coaching and scheme make a big difference. We will see some, not all, flourish in Kiffin's offense.

I guess, he wasnt horrible at LT, but the bar was low

Is this happening? Didnt know if it was even a consideration. That would be huge

agree to disagree. we've absolutely got some guys that we will want to keep...but instead of coaching guys up that were misses on recruiting evaluations, cut them and pick guys up that have already proved they can play college ball.

we had way too many recievers that were finnesee track guys than dawgs. we need tall guys that play with the heart of 0, 1, and 12

I think we had some good receivers. Their lack of production can be attributed to the poor oline, offensive playcalling, and hurt qb.

Im still not sure that nic anderson has touched the surface of what he can do

Agree on all. If Moore doesn’t return, Echols might be ready to take over Center. And we’ve got Thomas and Williams who would probably be worth keeping for depth if nothing else.

I also agree that the bowl practices (and film) will be huge for these OL and their evaluation for their future.

But that’s what Lane will use the bowl game for. Evals. Installing his offense for a bunch of players and coaches that won’t be around next year would be asinine. Plus the time it would take away from all his other responsibilities. The premise of this thread is ridiculous.
