A&M is telling people they take care of Mike the Tiger

Was at A&M today touring the school with my kid and when talking about the Vet school, the guide made the claim that they take care of Mike. I didn’t say anything, but sounds like total BS. They may have brought the last Mike there when he had cancer, but still highly unlikely given that LSU has a very prominent Vet school.

It's bs, but the LSU and A&M vet schools have a really strong relationship and collaborate a bunch. They're both top 10 vet schools.

Right. And for that reason I can see tamu coming to BR to assist in a study or gain treatment experience. The way it’s framed in the OP is like we sent him off to college station.

A&M so full of themselves. LSU has a Vet school with LSU students and staff who are caretakers of Mike. Vet school requires caretakers must be within 30 minutes of campus. Very strict rules for Mike. Maybe A&M Vet students come to LSU to study Mike? That would be the only claim they could make.

Bottom line Texas A&M has never played a direct, documented role in treating any Mike the Tiger. LSU handles its own mascot from head to tail. Even I expected more drama between two SEC schools, but life keeps finding ways to disappoint.

Oh, that’s how it was presented. She said their vet school cares for Bevo, which they actually do, the Baylor bears, and the LSU tiger.
It makes sense that they would help with UT and Baylor being that they don’t have vet schools. But to throw LSU in the mix is just how pathetic they are.

We heard the exact same thing. I had no reason to question it, but in everything I have searched cannot find any collaboration or mention of it.

There is one primary vet that takes care of Mike.. the one for ages recently retired.. he also wrote a book.. they have another new primary vet.. they have a few students that get assigned to help take care of Mike… it is a very big honor for those students..
Mike does not live in a “cage”… but is in a certified habitat… lsu is a certified tiger rescue and rehabilitation center and we did the paperwork for that last time we had to get one .. he has a night house which is inside and where they feed him etc.. you can get up close to him in there and watch him play with his water .. his rock is cooled and heated for his comfort.
We take care of our mike pretty darn well!

The top vet students get to get near Mike. No doubt the A&M students maybe get to come tour or take a quick class on him or something, but if they’re claiming they “take care of” Mike is utter and complete horseshite
