Hiring LK has brought the spark back, IMO. Since BK’s first season, I kind of lost that fire to watch an LSU game. I was totally fine missing the whole thing and just checking the final score, when in the past I wanted to watch every second! Verge said it well: the atmosphere just hasn’t had that feeling we all know it has when you step foot in that stadium. I know I can’t be the only fan who’s felt this way the last 3–4 years. I’m excited to see and feel that atmosphere again when next season rolls around!

Would be nice if you ask this after 6 games or so, you know?

I'll give you an upvote, the title of the thread could have a little work.

Well, these are the soft fans that we have been talking about. Last 15 years we are getting more and more of them. If you are a true through and through tiger fan no matter the coach, your all in watching (minus a McNeese or La tech type game)

Kelly ball was a hard watch. Most everyone including non fanatics would agree!

there honestly could be multiple " right" hires. Could we have gotten someone cheaper that could still gotten us to the Natty? Absolutely. The problem is most of our fanbase is so impatient that the "right" hire has to be someone to get us to a Natty withing 2 years. All that said, I think Lane has what it takes to potentially go on a run like Saban did at Bama, and have a decade of sustained success and multiple Nattys.

True. If les miles, ed orgeron both won championships here then probably multiple coaches out there that could.

You know we cannot wait that long to speculate. The transfer portal will be big for him.

I’m not even expecting g too much. But we only signed a small hs class tk make room for proven transfers.

Don’t expect playoffs please. But be cautiously optimistic.

Start off as posiTigers.

Aside from your 3 post library, I dont buy this.

As someone who watches every second and has since a little kid, I could never "check" the final score. I call BS

Coach Kiffin is definitely the right guy for the job. We'll be in the playoffs every year

WTF you talkin about brah, he has been here like 2 days and we wont see him actually coach a game for like 8 months. I'm hopeful he can make us not suck but that still remains to be seen.

I think this is a bit hyperbolic. I don't think the fanbase was expecting BK to win a National Championship in year 2. I don't even think they were expecting that THIS year. I think the expectation was at least making the CFP. But it's hard to say those expectations are totally without basis...for a few reasons:

1. The three HCs prior to Kelly all won NC's within their first 4 years at LSU. None of whom had anywhere close to that level of success prior to LSU. Given Kelly was the most accomplished coach at the time of hire LSU ever made, it wasn't unreasonable to think he could at least repeat the success of his predecessors.

2. The freedom of player movement has greatly expedited the timeline for building a great team, in all sports. Indiana doesn't go from Big 10 also ran to a two year 23-1 (regular season) record without the current transfer rules. Texas Tech doesn't go from decent Big 12 team to conf. (reg season) champ and likely top 4 CFP team in one year without the transfer rules (and huge influx of NIL cash). Ole Miss never competes for a CFP spot without the the ability to bring in transfers. Sustaining success is a different discussion. But the expectatoin to build a championship level team very quickly is not misplaced.

3. The "bar" for quick success has gotten lower. Most would call a CFP appearance within 2-3 years a successful season (though not the ultimate success). The opportunity to make the CFP has never been wider with 12 teams making it, and it will soon get even lower with the field expanding to (likely) 16 teams.

The sport has drastically changed. Timelines have been expedited. As a result, so has the basis for reasonable expectations.

THIS

Dude is a casual. True Tiger fans never miss a snap from start to finish, regardless how well the team is doing. These "fans" would've never have survived the Stovall, Hallman or Dinardo years.

Considering what was available, it was the only hire with the pedigree to get back to the top of the pile.

He will most likely win a title, but I wouldn't expect him to stay arround much after that. I think he will start looking to prove himself back in the NFL
