I have inflammatory arthritis that ive been dealing with for about 2 years now. Carnivore removes the symptoms whenever im on it but I fell off around October and have been carbing it up since thanksgiving. Symptoms came back with a vengeance suggesting that I have some gut issues and/or some inflammatory triggers(likely bread)....

That said, I decided to to a 7 day fast to do a full reset. Im on day 6 right now, symptoms completely gone. For anyone in a somewhat desperate situation with nagging injuries or inflammation issues, id highly recommend. Ill update yall if anyone is interested in doing a long duration fast

Im Mid 30s started fast with around 18-20% bf.

What type of fast? Are you just doing water? Vitamins? Coffee?

Just curious.

It's pretty amazing how the body can heal itself. I've only done a 72 hour fast.

From what I understand, the cell cleanup/ autophagy starts after about a day, and healing around day four. Do you plan on going back into carnivore after this?

From what I've researched, the stem cells will be active at some point after three days, but they don't kick in until you eat your first meal...which is why the quality of the meal is important. Any time I fast, my first meal is always a quality, fatty steak and eggs.

Yes but I will give myself free reign for Christmas dinner etc. I wont do only meat and salt. I tolerate cheese fine do ill keep that in and occasionally hot sauce etc

Yeah Saturday I will have bone broth, then a few hours later a ribeye. Its a little aggressive for 7 day fast...but im relatively experienced with fasting and I have been supplementing electrolytes well so hopefully no issues with refeeding syndrome

Have you tracked your weight daily throughout this fast?

I've done fasts of similar duration, sometimes less sometimes more and I'm overdue for one again. Don't know if you did this when you started, but I phase-in and phase-out at the start / end of a fast. For me, the phase in/out is a couple days of limiting myself to whole, raw vegetables, fruits, and protein supplements just to prepare the field for the change. Phasing in, it made it easier than just full stop on eating. Phasing out kept me from having a reaction to suddenly reintroducing food to my digestive tract.

I've said before that it's amazing what bowel movements produce long after you've stopped eating.

I actually dry fasted the first 36 hours. Started adding electrolytes on day 4....and that cleaned out whatever was left in there lol. You are 100% correct about phasing in...I phased in with thanksgiving leftovers and it made first 2 days extremely difficult

I've never done a 7 day fast-impressive. Most i've done is 48 hours and can really tell the difference.

I've just started taking creatine-any issues with continuing creatine during these fast?

I dont take creatine so I couldnt tell you for sure. I think unless youve got some inflammation issues to deal with, anything over 72 hours is probably overkill

...that said, long fasts are most definitely an exercise in discipline. It has sucked at times and beyond the health benefits I was due a mental challenge to push through

Do you workout while fasting? If so, do you change anything in your plan?

I do...its one of the most effective way to blunt hunger. I cut reps and intensity quite a bit. I think if someone were doing a 3 day or shorter fast, there would be no need to change workout at all if you felt good

Congrats on the diarrhea, baw!

I've done 4-5 days, and even though I try to ease back into eating, I usually don't avoid a date with toilet bowl.
