If Baker goes to Tulane, is Durkin a viable option?

Would he consider LSU with the current state of Auburn football?

One of the reasons Sumrall took the Florida job iver Auburn was that he HAD to keep Durkin at DC......

Would be ironic if he left on his own.

The Auburn fanbase would lose it lol.

Very true. Just seem odd for a school to demand that a coordinator be retained.

Not really. It happens more than you would think. I wouldn't say often, but it happens.

Didn’t LSU make Les keep Jimbo?

Well I know position coaches get kept on for various reasons (Tulane had one that was married to someone high up in the athletic department). Just seems silly to me that you might lose out on a head coach because you won't let him hire his own coordinators.

I heard there’s offsets in BK’s buyout if we keep at least one coach on staff who killed a kid, so that could be an extra benefit.

Okay, but can LSU still go after Durkin?

That might be an issue with CR, supposedly Durkin almost exclusively runs zone and CR definitely wants to have his guys in man way more than not

Ih...yeah but it would seem like he wouldn't want to leave. He would be a good get.

Wait, but Durkin is at AU, so I don’t follow…how does Durkin factor into Sumrall at UF?

You can try, but Durkin isn’t leaving Auburn for LSU. He and his family love it at Auburn. He turned down Ohio State last year.

Yes, we'll offer him 3.5 million a year. Up the ante Auburn.

Sumrall wanted control over his staff (obviously). He didn't want to be told that he had to keep a coordinator. And Durkin was the interim head coach at the time. I'm sure that didn't help Sumrall feel at ease with Durkin as DC.
Sumrall wanted the Auburn job. After the Durkin stuff happened he pulled his name from consideration.

Couple of other reasons why he didn't take the Auburn job but this was likely the biggest issue.

He just signed extension but we'll pay the buyout if thats Lane's guy. Keeping an eye on Batoon at .Mizzou
