He coached under his father who won 11 NCs at Mt Union, then took over as HC and won another 2 himself. Toledo is obviously not SEC level and his still being there 5 years later does raise questions, but it may reflect loyalty more than it does his worth as a coach. Toledo is #2 in total defense this year, which is not something you often see in the lower G5 conferences. He’s obviously very good, but probably needs seasoning at a Tulane or a Memphis (perhaps a lower tier P4 program) before making a leap to the big time.
