I don’t recall Cal ever having stout defenses. He may be a great position coach, but that’s also how we ended up with fricking Matt House.

i'm somewhat kidding, but i do prefer guys who are currently successful coordinators. i see he's been a dc at multiple colleges as you have pointed out.

Yeah, I've looked around and it seems this guy has actually made it work at multiple schools unlike house

Excluding the COVID year, 3 of his 6 seasons as DC, his teams were outside the Top 100 in total defense. His last year at Cal was #36, the only time he had a team in the Top 40. Not a very pretty track record.
